SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH KAYLEE CAVANAUGH

She doesn't see dead people, but...

She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next.

suspense

This book is full of suspense and teenage angst. At times you will find yourself on edge waiting to see what happens, and others your thinking to yourself, seriously are you THANT dense?! Kaylee and Nash make a great couple, but I'm hoping in future books the author will bring into play that socially they are on opposite sides of the school and see what kind of drama that can stir up. I'm acutely interested to find out more about Todd as well, I think a love triangle would be a great twist in the future!
Overall it's a really good book and I'm excited to read the next one.
I was actually surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did being that there are no vampires...

Audible was having a sale and I found this book among the titles, my deciding factor was the narrator - I've listened to several of her books in the past and enjoyed them so I figured, why not give it a try.

Great Read

I really enjoyed this book. It had a great plot. There was a lot of unexpected twist. I would recommend this one. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

A little "too" YA for me

I had listened to menagerie, which I loved and cannot wait for the next books in that series. So, I looked for more from this same author and found the free prequel to this series, which got me hooked, but this story fell a little flat for me. I listen to and read a lot of YA, but this was more for a pre-teen.

Quite a screamer.

With so much supernatural books out in the market today, there is not a lot of new ideas. This book was great in that it used a new idea for the story. This is the first book that I have read about banshees as the main characters. Although it is a teen book, still worth the read.

Good book

I enjoyed meeting the characters in this story. The main character discovers new things about herself and her world causing her to get more comfortable with herself. She learns that some of things that she thought were weaknesses were actually abilities that she had not mastered yet.

She becomes more sure of herself at the end. The support characters help the balance out the story and reflect the world around her.

Family Secrets can a little out of hand.

What did you love best about My Soul to Take?

I loved the way the story slowly developed,
and then came rushing at you with full force twist you never
saw coming.

What other book might you compare My Soul to Take to and why?

The only thing close to this book that I have read would be the "House of Night" first book

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Amanda Roconi, did both the Kaylee and Nash really well but i liked nash

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Well, after the first few minutes i really couldn't quit listening.

Any additional comments?

I am really enjoying the rest of the series

Good to finally get away from zombies and vampires

It is a good listen for the age the group. Easy and simple to follow.

Quite a surprise!

I thought this book was going in a totally different direction than it was. I was quite surprised with where it went. I loved it! The whole mystery with the plot kept me listening, and my facial expressions have convinced my roommate to have a go at the book as well. Well worth the money.

Not as dark as the Unbound or Shifters series.

This book was surprisingly lighter than Rachel Vincent's Unbound and Shifter series. After finishing the Shifter series, I wasn't sure if I should go on to start another of Vincent's series. Considering I had access to My Soul to Lose and it's only a bit longer than an hour, I thought I could use it as a tool in making my decision. Obviously, I enjoyed it and went on to read this book. (Having read My Soul to Lose is not critical to understanding this book, so it's not necessary to have read it first.) All of that being said, I've never read a book about ben sídes (banshees) before. I found this book very interesting. The protagonists in this book, Kaylee and Nash, are both high school students. One thing I found odd with the book was how they so quickly became an item. They went from not really knowing each other to what is apparently a committed relationship over the course of a couple of days. Though perhaps this should be too surprising, considering they're both teenagers. I did find this book quite interesting though and an enjoyable read. This book is definitely more YA/NA than the other two series I mentioned, which is evidenced by the characters themselves. While Fayth from the Shifter series was in her early 20s, she was a college graduate. I'd be interested in seeing how the rest of this series plays out.
