Well-written, but fell a little flat for me

My second Molly Harper book. A cutesy, snarky read that was more predictable than I had hoped.

When Josh, the new guy at the Kentucky Department of Tourism, vies for the same marketing director position as Sadie, the long-term department assistant director. No surprise, the two are young, hot, and deadset against falling for the other. The banter is witty but occasionally a bit too harsh. There were a few times when I didn't like our supposedly sweet Kentucky girl; she was a bit too rude for her character.

There was no actual plot beyond the simplistic, and it fell a little flat for me. That said, Ms. Harper is a wonderful writer, and her dialogue couldn't be more snappy.

WHY?

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Needs a much stronger story line with some twists and turns, you knew how this was going to end in the 2nd chapter.

What was most disappointing about Molly Harper’s story?

That it just went along with no true direction, lots of cute dialog but still boring.

Which character – as performed by Amanda Ronconi – was your favorite?

Kelsey is much more interesting than Sadie, Amanda's reading was the only reason I finished the book.

Did My Bluegrass Baby inspire you to do anything?

Not a thing

Any additional comments?

I love Molly Harper, but no matter how much I love her quips and dialog, the story has to go some place, has to have a purpose, sorry but this one did not. The competition between 2 workers just wasn't unique enough.

Not Molly's Best

Not Molly's best, but witty enough to hold my attention. Worth a read if you have a couple of hours.

Another good Molly Harper book, but....

These books are starting to get very predictable, but still enjoyable. This combination of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi is a recipe for success!

not bad for a romance novel

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The ending I think, I didn't buy into it

Would you ever listen to anything by Molly Harper again?

maybe

Did Amanda Ronconi do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

yes, but I found the voices a bit grating but that's probably just me

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

no

Any additional comments?

I did enjoy the book, it's just lacked a bit to convince me here and there

Not as good as prior work but worth a look

Still smiling after reading One Last Thing, I immediately purchased My Bluegrass Baby. Not as good as the former but there are funny moments. I was as invested in the characters as I had been in her prior work but it's still worth taking a look.

The Narrator performance makes it worth sticking it out until the end.
