Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi Do It Again!

If you could sum up My Bluegrass Baby in three words, what would they be?

Super witty romance.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kelsey is quick witted and sexy and I can't wait for the third installment of this series so that I can read about her romance.

Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Amanda Ronconi is alway stellar. She picks up on the nuances of Harper's language and makes me laugh out loud. They are a great team. I always read the book first and then listen to the audible version when I am commuting to the office. At this point I hear Amanda's voice whenever I read Harpers books for the first time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I lauged the whole time. Harper is a comedic genius!

A overall rating....

My Review:
Overall... 4.50 star

Performance.... 4.75 star

Story... 4.50 star

This is a short book for an unabridged audio, but it is not short on story. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Sadie has been promised her boss's job. It's a done deal. He's retiring and has been training her to do it, but she gets blindsided when the state brings someone else in for the job. She's not happy. Her boss isn't happy. The only one that is happy is Josh, the new guy. But her boss comes up with a plan. They both need to come up with a marketing campaign for the KY State Fair and they will let the people of Kentucky decide who gets the job. Needless to say, things become VERY contentious in the Kentucky Tourism Department which is tough because this is a small, close-knit group of people.

For Sadie, these people and this job are her life. This is all she does from sun-up to sun-down. Her coworkers are her family and they have a very unusual work relationship. Throwing Josh into that mix upsets the balance of everything. He doesn't understand their eclectic group of people....he's most definitely the outsider.

But on the other hand is Josh and you can't help to feel for him too. He had no idea what he was walking into. He moved here for this job, thinking it was a done-deal. It's not his fault that he wasn't aware of the politics at work. He's had his own really rough road and his backstory is heartbreaking.

This book is a perfect example of why I love Molly Harper's books. It's witty and fun. I can't tell you how many times I laugh out loud when listening to them. Amanda Ronconi is the perfect narrator on M. Harper's books. She gets the humor and always uses the perfect inflections at just the right time. There is one scene in this book that is so cruel to Josh, but omg, it was so funny! I spent my whole day cleaning my house just so I could listen to this book all the way through in one sitting...yes, it's that good.

I highly recommend it and now am feeling like I should take a trip to Kentucky.

No Kiss-n-Tell in Kentucky

In this chick lit romp through the bounties of Kentucky, Molly Harper hints at a series for a southern belle with a dash of sass. Shrouded in a difficult employment situation, we're treated to Sadie and Josh navigating their industry and each other with zest and aplomb. A supporting cast of quirky and likeableqq

Funny, but...

This new series by Molly Harper is funny and lighthearted, but not quite as good as her two paranormal series (Nice Girls/Half Moon Hallow and the Naked Warewolf/Grundy Alaska). Her humerous take on the vampire/warewolf genre is totally credit worthy. This new (non-paranormal) series is not quite up to what I'd come to expect. The narrator really helps make this a better book than it would have been on print. Her Kentucky twang is spot on.

Amanda Ronconi's performance is spot on!

This is an enjoyable story made all the more fun by Amanda Ronconi's performance. I will be looking at the rest of the Bluegrass series and other books narrated by A. Ronconi. Wish more authors/publishers would realize just how important the narrator is to the audible production of a book.

A Little Juvenile

I enjoyed this book, but it didn't really make me think or feel, it was just a light read with some mild sex thrown in.

Fun time

Fun laugh out loud silly. Not as epically great as "one last thing" but this storyline has friends I could really have and the snarky banter is great.
