Publisher's summary

How could one simple decision change the course of a man's life? In this fast-paced novella set in Regency England, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley in Derbyshire and Darcy House in London finds himself unwillingly, or possibly willingly, attached to Miss Elizabeth Bennet. With visions of their life ahead, he presses forward until everyone in her family and his are finally convinced they are a match made in heaven. Or, are they? Based on Jane Austen's classic novel, Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy's arrogance and pride seem to be a constant source of bitter frustration to his betrothed. He is surprised to find these less-than-sterling qualities trip himself up a time or two...or three, as well. With his pride and her prejudice, will Darcy and Elizabeth ever get the happily-ever-after they desire? Enjoy Mr. Darcy's point-of-view as he tells a tale that might take you by surprise. It sure did him. Mr. Darcy's Bad Day is appropriate for all listeners.

Sweet

This is such a sweet short story. I’ve read it and listened to it several times, but failed to add a review until now. It’s wonderful to have a short uplifting tale when time is at a premium. I really appreciate the author’s catalog of short stories; they are delightful and sweet.

One of My Favorite P&P Variations

One of my favorite P&P Variations. Not all the P&P characters are involved; as it is a variation, however, I love the story and will reread again. Yes, retread. This time, however, I listened to the Audible Version which was really well read. I recommend for anyone that loves a beautiful story about Elizabeth and Darcy!

It'll make you grin

This story is rather fun. The humorous incidents are gently fun but not too annoying. The length is good for this type of story.

Elizabeth's confrontation with Lady Catherine was priceless. Elizabeth's analysis of Lady Catherine is well done. It gives a humanity not often seen in JAFF.

The ending almost made me groan but Capps gave me what I like. As she nearly always does.

Stevie Zimmerman did a great job reading it. She reads many of the JAFF books so it's not surprising. Though in some ways, I would have liked a bit more of a satirical sound but it was fine.

Delightfully Funny Novella!

Mr. Darcy is walking the grounds between Netherfield Park and Longbourn, hoping to find the peace Lizzy seems to get from her daily walks. Therefore, he determines it's all Lizzy's fault when he falls into a puddle and injures his ankle. Lizzy discovers him and takes him home to Longbourn to recover. When circumstances find them compromised, Darcy needs to convince his charming Lizzy to overlook his behavior during the last few weeks and give him a chance.

This is a sweet clean novella told from Darcy's point of view. It was such a treat, it was so funny I had a smile on my face for almost the whole story! There isn't room for angst, just plenty of adorable scenes with the couple. If you want to spend more time in Hertfordshire and enjoy some delightful moments with Darcy, this is the book for you.

Stevie Zimmerman is her usual wonderful self. Her narration just brings Darcy to life, she performs male voices so well. She makes listening effortless. If you're worried about trying a new author, Christie Capps is a pen name for J. Dawn King, the author of some of the very best Pride and Prejudice variations. This little trip to Hertfordshire is well worth it.

A HAPPY READ

Full of dry wit and true to the original characters, this is one of the best Pride and Prejudice variations I’ve read. The narration was perfect and the story lighthearted. Truly a joy to read.

The end bit was a bit of a surprise.

Cute little story. Narrator was great. I highly recommend this book to a Jane Austen fan fiction lover.

meh

The twist at the end was a giggle-worthy turn, but then it went back to being implausible. Cute, but implausible. Zimmerman, however, is as delightful a narrator as ever, regardless of the story being read. I would listen to her read a grocery list, if she used the voices she has so wonderfully developed for these characters.
