Publisher's summary

Check in to County Hospital’s secret ward - where paranormal activities lead to medical emergencies for one tireless nurse.

After surviving a brutal vampire attack, nurse Edie Spence is ready to get back to work attending to supernatural creatures in need of medical help. But her nursing skills are put to the test when she witnesses a hit-and-run on her lunch break. The injured pedestrian is not only a werewolf, he’s a pack leader, and now Edie’s stuck in the middle of an all-out were-war.

With two rival packs fighting tooth and nail, Edie has no intention of crossing enemy lines. But when she meets her patient’s nephew - a tattooed werewolf named Lucas with a predatory gleam in his eye that’s hard to resist - Edie can’t help but choose sides. The question is, can she trust this dangerous new ally? And can she trust her own instincts when she’s near him? Edie can’t seem to pull away - even if getting involved makes her easy prey.

In addition to being a writer, Cassie Alexander is an active registered nurse in California. She is the author of the Edie Spence series.

love it

I love all these books. They remind me of grown up "Buffy" but you know... she is human. I like her and her friends and its all just great.

I can’t get enough

I don’t know why but I just can’t get enough of this series. I should hate it because I get so caught up with each character Edie takes up with in each book, then the author takes that away! Why why why?! I want Lucas! He better come back!

**SPOILERS, MAYBE?**

Why did you do that with Syke’s character?! Now I don’t know how the rest of series could be good. I’m hoping she will appear again?

As some reviewers have said, the characters in this world aren’t very appealing, well some of them. They are so bland and one dimensional. Like the zombie in last book. Then I started liking him. All of a sudden he wasn’t himself right before he left. Some others have seemed this way. But the main one, Edie, I love her and think she is written very well. Meaty is another one , along with all the coworkers at the hospital. Charles, he was great at beginning of book only to have his whole personality shift then he’s gone too. That weird person creature that I can’t remember what he’s called, that’s just creepy. But I like him too. But for the love of all that’s holy, kill Jake already! Please! My favorite part of the whole series is the warped sense of humor throughout that only someone working in the medical field could appreciate.

The narrator is excellent!

Lots of action

What does Tai Sammons bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is okay, read a smidgen too slow, I upped the speed to 1.25x and it worked for me.

This book is well written and full of sarcastic wit, action, mystery, werewolves, shadows, and vampires. Well worth the price because it grabs you from chapter one with it multitude of loveable character's.

Cassie you nailed it!

I am an ER RN abd this is the only book I've read that encompasses medical/nursing info in it and it is accurate and the comments are real. Most books that have a nurse character sound fake, like the writer never actually worked a busy floor, short staffed with nasty gross human frailties going on. The comments about doctors could only come from a nurse!!!
I really wish you would continue this series, I love it! From one RN to another, you rock!

Hous of your life you won't get back

This was a pretty sad excuse for a story. It jumped all over the place, and never fully explained anything. That last ditch effort to tie all of the storylines together only made it more apparent how dry the story was to begin with. The narrator's performance was just as mediocre as the writing. Her accents were awful, and her attempt at Male voices was so bad as to be comical in some parts. I don't go into these types of stories expecting life-changing philosophy or anything. It's fluff reading, pure and simple, but this book couldn't even deliver on THAT. Nothing truly feels resolved. I'm kind of upset about the time I invested, waiting for it to get to the "good part". That part really never came. Cassie Alexander and Tai Sammons are both on my "no-go" list now.

Just a political rant.

Disappointed in a usually good author. I have little sympathy for the heroine of this book. She is shallow, immature and selfish. She gets more upset about illegal aliens than her own son, whom she deserted when he was a few months old for six months, and never seems to act like she cares about him. I will think twice before listening to this author again.
