This 10th novel in Robyn Carr’s New York Times best-selling series features scruffy-looking ex-Navy gynecologist Aiden Riordan and prickly lawyer Erin Foley. While each just wants to get away from it all for the summer, a bear scare, a bizarre concussion, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity thrust them together and kindle an unlikely romance. Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

Not my favorite, but still good

Audiobook: Narrator - Therese Plummer

I’ve written it at least 10 times now. This narrator does an amazing job of bringing every single one of these characters to life. I absolutely love listening to her and I think she may have pulled some voodoo on me because I swear I hear her voice even when I quietly reading.

While I loved watching Aiden fall in love, I wasn’t a huge fan of Erin. She was just too harsh, judgey and high and mighty. At least that was my initial judgement of her from meeting her in A Virgin River Christmas, Ian and Marcie’s story. But as I listened, I learned and soon I was empathizing with her and the life she led. I wanted her to find her happy ever after with Aiden.

As most of these books, this also covers some of the characters from town. Sometimes this annoys me when we get pulled away from the “main couple” but it usually doesn’t last long. We got a good look at Art and his love interest and how all of that is being dealt with. When this narrator performs Art, I’m brought to my knees.

Great addition to the series. Maybe not my favorite, but still very entertaining.

Don't read out of order

If you could sum up Moonlight Road in three words, what would they be?

After reading the first 4 books, I accidently read this one next - oops. Each book will stand alone, but there is a flow in the series and you can learn about actions from prior stories not yet read.

Wonderful

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great character and plot development with just the right balance of adventure and romance, and reference to characters developed in previous books to build substance, context and plot development without compromising the integrity of this storyline. Once you have read one book in this series you will be anxious for the next. It doesn't really matter which order you read or listen to them in - each book stands alone.

series just gets better

May contain spoilers.
I've read many series where the author seems boarded or burned out as the series progresses and I stop following. The exact opposite is true in this series.
The author explores emotions and life experiences, such as infertility, adoption, the loss of the ability to bear children and issues related to adults with special needs, without making such themes overwhelm the story. She rightfully develops the relationship of the main characters in a realistic and emotionally mature way and keeps them in the forefront while adding themes to enhance, not detract from the story.
I highly recommend this series for mature adults who wants to read romance without insulting your intelligence!

Good things happen to good people

A believable story, just when you start to think that a bad person can get you into an impossible position someone thinks of a way out.
