This 10th novel in Robyn Carr’s New York Times best-selling series features scruffy-looking ex-Navy gynecologist Aiden Riordan and prickly lawyer Erin Foley. While each just wants to get away from it all for the summer, a bear scare, a bizarre concussion, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity thrust them together and kindle an unlikely romance. Then Aiden’s scheming ex-wife shows up.

“This book is an utter delight.” (Romantic Times)
Robyn Carr does another excellent job with this next installment on a great series. I like the fact that these stories are about more than just romance. She gives real insight into these characters, most of whom are flawed in one way or another, so it's like relating to actual people rather than fantasy heroes. As always, I encourage you to start with the beginning book of the series, Virgin River, if you haven't already done so. If you are already a fan of the series, this book is like catching up with old friends.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
Robyn Carr is a delight. This book was fantastic. It kept me listening till the early hours of the morning. I wanted Analise to get hers so badly. It was great catching up with some of the familiar residents of Virgin River and to know they were having real life issues like everyone else. I think that is what gives these books such likability, to revisit old friends and to know they haven't had a fairytale ending, but are still being challenged by every day life happenings. Erin was an awesome heroine, when it came down to clutch time, she proved she hadn't lost her take charge attitude, like a mama lioness, she was cornered and came out fighting. Bravo!! Great Listen!!
I like all of the books I have bought by this author. This is one of the better ones. I will listen to this story more than once. It is genuinely funny. I appreciate this authors ability to unfold the story at just the right pace. This is a great addition to my Audible Library. Thank you.
This installment in the Virgin River series is like meeting with old friends! Luke Riordan is the focus of this book, brother to Luke and Sean (from previous books). Luke falls in love with Erin (super-responsible type A personality taking a vacation for the first time in 10 years ) in a typical RC manner; fast, furious and passionate but not without humor and great dialogue. The women are strong and independent characters. Well except for the sociopathic x-wife holding the gun!!!! RC always wraps the stories in some type of adversity with quite believable circumstances and with a pregnancy story woven around it all. Mel and Jack are the side story in this book and it is great to hear how they are coping with all their life changes. I recommend reading the books in order just to appreciate the characters but they could stand alone too. Its entertainment, and its NICE!!! Excellent narration.
I love books! Audiobooks take stories to the next level. I'm obsessed with Audible and will try to rate all of my books. Happy Listening! ;)
Erin (Marcy's sister from book 4) goes to Virgin River for vacation. She meets Aidan Riordan and some very interesting things happen (crazy ex wife, surprise birth). Every Virgin River story has amazing romance, hot sex and a truly interesting story. This story is just another Robyn Carr hit perfectly narrated by the best narrator ever: Therese Plummer. If you like romance book then you need to read all this series in order. You will enjoy every second.
After reading the first 4 books, I accidently read this one next - oops. Each book will stand alone, but there is a flow in the series and you can learn about actions from prior stories not yet read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great character and plot development with just the right balance of adventure and romance, and reference to characters developed in previous books to build substance, context and plot development without compromising the integrity of this storyline. Once you have read one book in this series you will be anxious for the next. It doesn't really matter which order you read or listen to them in - each book stands alone.
Of all the books I have in my audible library and all the books I have read I have not laughed or cied as much as I did while listening to this one. I loved it and tge series is awesome
These stories sometimes are entertaining, but get a bit on my nerves with everyone being so perfect. Even the messed up people are perfect. I think of it as a dream story describing "this is the way people should live in a perfect world". OK once it while, but a bit sappy if you are cynical like me.
Somehow I missed the fact that this was part of a series, no less #10 of 17. Regardless, I was able to manage the story, even though having the history would have made it more rich.
In fact, now that I know there is a history, it makes sense for my "complaints" about the book. The story of Aiden and Erin was very well done and captivating. Each of their characters are high-acheiving but with faults and cracks. They round each other out very nicely.
But I did not understand why the secondary details were so strong: one couple debating about whether or not to have a third child (via surrogate no less), the romance of a developmentally disabled young man, and ultimately the complicated delivery of a breech baby. Now knowing these secondary characters were all central characters in previous installments, I get it. Doesn't make me like it anymore, but I get it.
This is a good book for summer reading or when you just need a simpler reminder of life with humor and connections.
