Publisher's summary

In Montana Sky Christmas, USA Today best-selling author Debra Holland offers seven short stories set in the small town of Sweetwater Springs, Montana in 1894.

These holiday stories are about various kinds of Christmas love - the romance between a man and a woman, the devotion of a husband to his wife's memory, and the love of a child for her goose. You'll hear about familiar characters from Sweetwater Springs and come to know new ones - many of whom you'll see again in future Montana Sky Series books and novellas.

The stories take place after Stormy Montana Sky, book three in the Montana Sky Series, but this anthology can be listened to as a standalone book.

These short stories will warm your heart

If you could sum up Montana Sky Christmas in three words, what would they be?

Sweet, uplifting stories

Any additional comments?

Debra Holland has done it again! I absolutely loved this series of short stories that can be listened to (or read) alone or as part of her series. I love how the stories all address different things such as the loss of a love one, young love, and the loneliness of being in a new place and how each character overcomes and finds love, happiness, or just the joy of helping others. I love how the stories entwine and flow from one to the next. In every story Debra touches your heart in a different way and just makes you glad you chose to listen (read) her stories.

Wonderful set of short stories

Any additional comments?

Lovely very short stories of the town of Sweetwater Springs. A delightful beginning to a wonderful series giving you a taste of what is to come in the small town and its people. It was wonderful to see the characters that will show up in this town in future stories. This is just a little tease to get you interested in the books and the author. I found it highly entertaining with wonderful tales of a town I have fallen in love with.

Lara as always does a wonderful job of narrations. I love her voice and tones she brings so much to all her audios. Here you get a big taste of many different characters and her wonderful talent. There are no background noises just wonderful clean audio that will keep you smiling. Her many different voices are wonderful filled with emotions.

You are going to love Louisa Cannon and Red Macalister of him wanting red socks and her misunderstanding him thinking he wants to learn how to knit.

You get to know how the town hired the female sheriff which always held my interest.

Abe's story is touching how he misses his wife and wants his daughter to remember her mother and all the great times they had.

Sally travels into Montana Sky to trade her handmade scarves for Christmas gifts for her family. Harry and Sally story is touching.

Kayleigh has a goose and her family wants to eat it for Christmas. K. C. is tracking a criminal she is pulled in to a runaway child trying to save her goose. K.C goes after the child, her goose what she finds might cook every ones goose. A very touching read.

Pepe loves Lucia and has for some time he just doesn’t have the mean to take care of a wife. With help he earns a living and goes after the women of his dreams.

This is just a wonderful collection of stories that will touch your heart. I hope you enjoy this audio as much as I did. Come get a taste of what is yet to come in this outstanding series. You won’t be sorry.

Heartwarming Christmas stories by Debra Holland

Where does Montana Sky Christmas rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really liked that this book was a series of short stories about people we've met in Sweetwater. Now we know a bit more about them and have learned some beautiful holiday stories.

What did you like best about this story?

It was easy to split this book up into a couple of different days and trips because it's a series of short joyous stories. It's only in the end that you find out the connections even though we really know these residents already.

Which character – as performed by Lara Asmundson – was your favorite?

I liked listening to Pepe's story. He is a very minor character in the other books, but he is also a generous and giving soul. It was nice to hear him get his happy ending.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I actually liked breaking this book into multiple days. It is a series of short stories so you could finish one in a short session and not get lost or have to remember what was happening when you last left off.

Montana Sky Christmas

A series of short, touching stories from around the town of Stillwater Springs. It Includes the story of how the town hired the female sheriff. I'd wondered about this having previously skipped the novellas for the main books.

The first Christmas story is a short romance of Louisa Cannon and Red Macalister. She teaches knitting to earn money. Red only wants a new pair of stockings but decides to learn to knit so he can spend time with Louisa.

The second story with Abe's memories of his lost children and wife had me crying. In public on a CTA bus. This holiday short is about family and Abe and his daughter talk about their losses, grief, and love. Very lovely.

Sally O'Donell is 19 and has traveled into Montana Sky to trade her handmade scarves for Christmas gifts for her brother, sisters and parents. Harry O'Hanlon is at the general store when Sally arrives and is smitten. This story shows that generosity has its own rewards.

Kayleigh Gentry's family are hard-hearted ogres! They want to eat her goose, Prince for Christmas dinner!
K. C. Granger is tracking a criminal. When she gets to the Gentry farm she hears of a runaway child that didn't want her goose cooked for Christmas dinner. K.C. hopes the child doesn't cross paths with the criminal but of course, it's inevitable.

Pepe Sanchez has loved Lucia Perez for a time but he doesn't have the means to support a wife. With the unasked for help of family and friends, he is soon earning money from his carvings and decides he will ask Lucia to marry him.

The final story has Elizabeth Sanders putting on a children's pageant on Christmas Eve for the town.

It's a beautiful collection of short stories that are heartwarming and full of joy.

anthology of short stories

I enjoyed the audio version of this book!

What a different style of book! This is a bunch of short stories that at first don't seem interlaced but by the last story it all comes together! Both new and older side characters get their own short stories in this wonderful collection!

Several sweet xmas stories

This one its several Christmas love stories and I just loved it.
I wish the stories would be longer since I didn't want to put it down, but they were all very sweet just like all the other Montana Sky stories.

Montana Sky Christmas

As always, Debra Holland has done a fantastic job! These were eight different short stories that centered on characters some that we have met in the Mail Order Brides series. This really makes the stories fun for me because I enjoy meeting old friends in new stories.
I love the Montana Mail Order Brides series and this story really is a part of this series.
I would recommend these stories to everyone. These are perfect to listen to while working in the kitchen getting the meal parts ( dressing, pies, homemade rolls, etc.) prepared as each chapter is a separate story.
I loved this book!!!

A beautiful collection for the hoidays...

What a beautifully written collection of old time western books! This collection was perfectly timed with our Christmas season. I loved listening / reading this collection. It is romantic and sweet and very much family oriented (clean read). This collection will make a perfect holiday read for family get-together and I truly believe young and old alike will enjoy listening to it.

The author, Debra Holland has a wonderful manner in writing when it comes to the old west ways. Every book of hers that I have read so far is equally as wonderful and I find I enjoy listening to them much more than I ever thought I would. Ms Holland has a way of capturing my heart in her writing. The narrator, Lara Asmundson did a fantastic job delivering this collection of short stories to us. I love the accents and the multiple voices she uses to entertain us and find the voices totally believable! Well done!
