    "Great narration"
If you could sum up Mistress in three words, what would they be?

If you're a Ragency fan, Amanda Quick is a great bet. Mischief is one of her best. Humor, spooky thrills, feisty heroine, strong hero. Barbara Rosenblatt provides an engaging narration with exceptionally good male voices that enhance the fun.

"Likable characters - a good read."

Someone said Quick's stories were too much alike. I disagree. I think maybe it is the narrator that leads one to that impression. Although this narrator is not my favorite for women's voices, she does the male parts quite well. The story kept my attention, and I liked the characters. This may be one of my favorites by Quick.

I truly liked this listen. The lead female is strong, the hero intriguing, and the story is amusing. Definitely a good use of time. This is the only AQ I have listened to, having the rest of my exposure to her in print. But this was so enjoyable, I may listen to the books I borrowed from my sister.

When I clean, drive or exercise I listen to romance. The steamier the better but it must have a great story as well!

"Steady Amanda Quick, Never goes wrong"

I love the charming historical novels of Amanda Quick. Her female leads are always strong and self sufficient yet not afraid to get a little cuddly with a man. They are intelligent and it's fun to how they go about solving a problem. I first listened to her "Paid Companion" and haven't been disappointed yet. Talent like Amanda Quick's is a rare find!

    "VT. FAN"
Would you consider the audio edition of Mistress to be better than the print version?

THERE WILL PROBABLY NEVER BE A TIME WHEN I FEEL THE AUDIO VERSION OF A BOOK IS BETTER THAN THE PRINT VERSION. IN PRINT MY IMAGINATION RULES FROM THE LOOK OF THE CHARACTERS, TO IMAGINING THE SCENES DESCRIBED, TO THE VOICES, ALL COMES FROM MY IMAGINATION WHEN I READ.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mistress?

THAT IS WHAT IS SO GOOD WITH AMANDA QUICK BOOKS THE ENTIRE BOOK IS MEMORABLE THAT IS WHAT MAKES AND AUTHOR A BESTSELLER WETHER IT BE JUST ONE BOOK (TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD) OR NUMEROUS NOVELS.

Which character – as performed by Barbara Rosenblat – was your favorite?

BARBARA ROSENBLAT DID SUCH AN GREAT JOB THAT EACH CHARACTER WAS SEPARTELY AND DISTINCTIVELY BROUGHT TO LIFE. FABULOUS.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

ITS AMANDA QUICK! YOU LAUGH, YOU CRY AND YOU SIGH. YOU HATE TO HAVE IT END. THATS WHY I OWN BOTH PRINT AND MOST AUDIOS. I HOPE SHE STICKS WITH ROSENBLAT WHO IS 100% BETTER THAT FLOSNCK. I WISH THE JULIE GARWOOD WOULD USE ROSENBLAT FOR HER AUDIO BOOKS SHE WOULD BE GREAT.

    "I LOVED it!"

Ok, so this one is a bit different, but in a good way. I really enjoyed this story of a Yorkshire farmer who becomes an Earl, and the young lady who wins his heart, more than I thought I would. It kept me up listening late into the night as the mystery was unraveled. I loved it so much that I bought Paid Companion as well and will listen to that one next.

The Earl of Masters has been badly hurt by love. In self defence, he has established a list of rules to protect himself from further pain. One day a "friend" visits him at his country estate, and tells him that a young woman is moving in society, inferring in all the ballrooms in London that she's his ex mistress. He has no idea who she is, but he isn't about to let the farce continue. Of course, when he confronts her, he finds himself more intrigued by her than he should be.

What ensues is a mystery of blackmail and murder that really grabbed my attention. I loved Ephigenia, the "ex mistress," and how interesting she was. There were some moments when I thought she was made to seem too naive, but I was so absorbed in the story that it didn't bother me at all.

Normally, I wouldn't buy anything narrated by Barbara Rosenblat, but she was a real surprise here. She didn't exhibit the distinctive smokers voice that bothers me so much in some of her other performances, and her English dialects were spot on, if a little over the top in some places. In other parts of her performance, she was as good as Rosalyn Landor, and I don't say that lightly.

    Highly recommended.

    "Worst Narration Ever"
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Love this book and author. I will never buy another audible book with this narrator.

Tell us about yourself! Attorney/Rancher - eclectic taste in books in both fiction and non-fiction. Preference for British authors in mysteries, love well written dialogue and hate historical fiction.

    "Yuck."

I don't know why I keep listening to these. I am amazed they get published. It's one thing to write a romance novel, it's another thing to write for an audience presumed not to have read anything else in their lives. Compare this carriage ride with the two protagonists, in the second chapter with the carriage ride of the two protagonists in the last chapter of Georgette Heyer's Arabella. Don't tell me one is a young girl and one is a widow and say that accounts for the difference. No, the difference is the writing and even if both are unbelievable, the first is closer to fantasy.

"better than others by Amanda Quick"

The plot moved quickly enough. The story had humorous moments and the villain was not revealed too early in the story. The interaction between Masters and Mrs. Bright was witty, frustrating and lovely. I have read other stories by Amanda Quick and found that I was responding more to this one than the other three. Very enjoyable during my commute.
