From NY Times and USA Today best-selling author, Jana DeLeon, the second book in the Ghost-in-Law mystery/romance series.
Family can be the death of you...
Sabine LaVeche needs to locate a blood relative fast - her life depends on it. Then Helena Henry shows up offering to help, and Sabine knows she's really in trouble when it's the best idea she's heard in a while. When private investigator Beau Villeneuve takes on Sabine's case, things heat up in more ways than one, and Sabine struggles to balance thoughts of a life with Beau against her chances of living at all.
As the investigation proceeds, they begin to uncover the secrets of Sabine's past and one thing becomes clear - someone doesn't want Sabine to get the answers she seeks.

Did I mention I love this series!! It is part cozy mystery, part contempo romance and a whole lotta ghostie fun!
Helene cracks me up! She is just so much trouble!
The lead this time is Sabine, who we met in the first book and had a tiny taste of what was to come for her.
I love her sassy attitude. She does annoy a touch with her fake psychic job, although she is more of a counselor to her clients.
Beau is a deliciously hunky PI. He is a perfect match for Sabine! Love their dynamic.
This is a open bedroom door, that means at least one scene with a little steamy detail!! Not your typical cozy at all! It is not a full on smexy erotic read, but it is far from squeaky clean. I loved it!
This is a mixed narrative, that flows nicely. We go between the two leads POV for most of the book, with a few supporting spots thrown in throughout. Gives a much fuller read!
The mystery this time was more predictable, well up until the curve-ball. If you see it coming, you are a whole lot wiser than me! Twists can be fun but this was totally left field!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Johanna Parker, who is fantastic. I love the gentle roll to her Southern accents, they are light but distinct. The pace is quick enough to keep the reader engaged and her energy is wonderful. Great voices that stayed distinct and consistent.
I am really enjoying this series and can not wait to see what happens next!!! Super quirky fun series!!!

probably not this one
it depends, I would only listen if I knew there would be more of the mother inlaw she is a hoot !
No but because I like Johanna parker so much I dealt with it.
the romance was okay but i got this second book because the mother inlaw is so funny and this book it was like they would forget she was supposed to be in it and then they would throw in a scene and you'd say ok now she is back only for her to disappear again.
The writer seemed to have forgotten that the series is called the ghost in-law the first book was good the second was too, since it was through the ghost mother in-laws eyes. but the 3rd she was hardly around so I am not sure I will use a credit to find out if she did the same thing in the next book.
Johanna is a good narrator bring characters to life
No but did get back to it when I free time
I really like all of Jana DeLeon's books, no matter which series. I like Helena, and she plays a larger part in this book. She has learned to do many things and provides good laughs. There is even a "dark and stormy night" involved.
Mudbug by Jana DeLeon is a fun and interesting place to read about, especially Helena the resident ghost and all the supernatural things that happen to the people surrounding her and Mudbug. I'm thoroughly enjoying the funny, light reading.
Audacious & Funny but Predictable
The group hug.
She captures the personality of the characters, specially Helena. She is the perfect compliment to Jana's ribald writing style.
as usual I laughed out load a couple times but not as often as the 1st book.
I love the humor, love the audacious way Jana DeLeon writes. Each book alone was great but the story line is too repetitive to read back to back. Stalked damsels, tampered vehicles, shadow lurkers. I look forward to reading her next book but she needs to come up with a new story line or she will lose me.
Sci-fi, detective, cozy. Only give 5s to those books I think stand above the rest. 4 is a good solid book. 3 is average, nothing special.
The writing style is a little rough but the story was entertaining enough. Nice complicated family Mystery.
This was my 3rd Mudbug book. Like the others - easy-listening, fun [esp. the ghost character], a nice diversion - but it follows the same pattern & therefore the third story feels very predicable. I would recommend it - if my friend was looking for something that was enjoyable but required no thinking.
Wraps everything very neatly.
I've listened to 2 others. The reader's performance enhanced the story.
"Thoroughly enjoyable listen"
Loved it - really witty and entertaining
- would recommend it and have done ! Already have downloaded the next book in series
