Steele does a superb job of blending fiction with historical events that creates a web, holding the reader's attention as the story unwinds. Filled with a range of human emotional, embeded in vivid settings...I highly recommend this novel. The only ripple is in the reading...the reader lacked expression and tended to read it very monotone.
I love listening to my Audiobooks; My favorite authors are Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, Susan Mallory and the African-American Novels
This book was so good, there were sad parts, funny parts, then you really got into the story when the twins decided to switch places and trick the husband. It took the son a year to figure out the real twin, but not the husband, even after having a set of twins with her. His wife left him not wanting to have sex, taking care of his son, or just being a wife. So her twin filled in great, but when she got hurt in Europe during the war and the head Nurse sent her Twin the telegram that she was serious ill, of course she took off to see about her and the husband complained, so he went along. So they had to tell him the truth of the switch
which totally upset him. And then she had to tell her sister she also had a son too, that really put a lid on the jar. They had to get back to the states caring each other and an infant, what a trick with shooting all around and getting to a ship; but they made it home. Safe and sound back to NY with their twins and son & housekeeper waiting. This would make an interesting MOVIE!
The life, excitement, sadness,admosphere
A little bit of both.
John Fleming puts a lot of life in his narration
The unabridged version of this book was looooong. But that was my plan. It was an entertaining book for a commute the has no radio reception. Many time the author repeated information already in earlier portions of the book. All in all it was a good listen.
Nice easy listening, a little repetitive and predictive but fine for doing the housework. Hasn't made me want to hear others
Really enjoyed listening listening to this book, Victoria really knew how to twist her elder sister round her little finger using the fact they were identical twins,
