The crash of a Dallas-bound jet wasn't just a tragedy to TV reporter Avery Daniels; it was an act of fate that handed her a golden opportunity to further her career.

Mistaken for a glamorous, selfish woman named Carole Rutledge, the badly injured Avery would find that plastic surgery had given her Carole's face, a famous senatorial candidate for a husband, and a powerful Texas dynasty for in-laws.

And as she lay helpless in the hospital, she would make a shattering discovery: someone close to the senator planned to assassinate him. Now, to save the life of the man she loved, Avery must live another woman's life - and risk her own.

    Story
"Not as good as it could have been"

This book started out way too slow. The first 3 or so hours were way too drawn out. Then it started to get pretty good when Avery's bandages were removed and she started living her life with Tate.
I've listened to Dick Hill the narrator before and he's a pretty good narrator BUT, it was way too distracting when he would sigh and take deep breaths when it wasn't called for at all. He just does that all the time. Also I missed a few lines because he makes some of the characters sound drunk and he misses out on the pronunciation of many words. I don't think I can listen to one of his books anymore.
This story is not believable, but so what, it's pretty good until The ending was ruined a bit being way too far fetched. Again, it's just a story and it turned out to be just ok. Don't waste a credit, it'll be on sale as thats the way I bought it. Also get ready for Dick's sigh's, deep breathing and slurred words. Yikes!!

    Story
    "Sandra Brown - AMAZING"

The crash of a Dallas-bound jet not only changed the existence of TV reporter Avery Daniels; but altered her entire life giving her a chance to make a comeback in her career. At first it wasn’t something Avery had planned but as the days of recuperation and surgery continued where she could not speak to correct her mistaken identity, she learned of a plan to assassinate her supposed husband, a famous senatorial candidate Tate Rutledge. Following her surgeries and recuperation in the hospital, Carole as she was now being called, was torn between telling Tate the truth or trying to identify the killer. One thing for sure - she knew the killer had to be a part of his immediate family.

One might wonder, why Avery didn’t come clean as soon as she could speak but as the story evolved there were many reasons, why she couldn’t. One, she was beginning to care for Tate, in spite of his private disgust of ‘Carole’; two, she was worried about Carole’s fragile child Amanda; and three she didn’t know who was plotting against Tate. If she confessed, the killer would have to eliminate her.

What more can be said of Sandra Brown that hasn’t already been said? Her plotting, twists and turns, red herrings, deep characterizations and non-stop action rate this author at the top of the plateau of amazing suspense/thrillers. To start a novel by Ms. Brown is to settle in for the long-haul to finish because she writes heart-stopping thrillers that keep a reader totally engrossed with her fast action stories.

MIRROR IMAGE was one of those non-stop reads and seeing as how I listened to this on audio narrated by the always great Dick Hill, one can understand why I always took the long routes to listen longer in my car. If I were to nit-pick just a bit it would be that his interpretation of one of the female characters tended to grate on my nerves – otherwise, I will state that Dick Hill is one of my favorite narrators and I will always gravitate to the audio books he records.

Bottom line: Sandra Brown’s MIRROR IMAGE may be one of her older titles but her mastery of story-telling is exceptional. Highly Recommended!!

Love to listen to audio books while I'm on the road -- which I am often. Don't even listen to the radio anymore.

    Story
    "Love Sandra Brown, but ...."
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story plodded along. I love Sandra Brown's novels, but this one just seemed to move too slowly.

What could Sandra Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Less detail. Too much detail can drag things down.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Dick Hill?

    Yes.

Do you think Mirror Image needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    No.

    Story
"It just goes on and on, dragging it out."
What disappointed you about Mirror Image?

I struggled through this one, hoping it would get better. It never did, but I wanted to know the end so I suffered through it. Hoping against hope that it would finally end. This story is unrealistic and made worse by the unbelievable bad decisions of the characters. Best advise, just don't start it and find a good thriller that moves a little faster than an iceberg. Maybe the abridged version would be better. Dick Hill did a respectable job. Not up to a Reacher book, but did the best he could with what he had to work with. I should return it, but I have only returned a couple and didn't listen to the end on either, so I feel obligated to keep it.
I guess I just wanted to be entertained and enjoy, not just wanting it to be over.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Something much better. Maybe a Felix Castor by Mike Carey and read by Michael Kramer.
    Fiction, but very entertaining.

What didn’t you like about Dick Hill’s performance?

Did the best he could with what he had to work with.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mirror Image?

Most of them, this book could be cut in half.

    Any additional comments?

I should be more careful next time I order a book.
