Publisher's summary

Clay Bennett is a powerful DarkRiver sentinel, but he grew up in the slums with his human mother, never knowing his changeling father. As a young boy without the bonds of Pack, he tried to stifle his animal nature. He failed... and committed the most extreme act of violence, killing a man and losing his best friend, Talin, in the bloody aftermath. Everything good in him died the day he was told that she, too, was dead.

Talin McKade barely survived a childhood drenched in bloodshed and terror. Now a new nightmare is stalking her life - the street children she works to protect are disappearing and turning up dead. Determined to keep them safe, she unlocks the darkest secret in her heart and returns to ask the help of the strongest man she knows....

Clay lost Talin once. He will not let her go again, his hunger to possess her, a clawing need born of the leopard within. As they race to save the innocent, Clay and Talin must face the violent truths of their past... or lose everything that ever mattered.

Mind over matter: listen to more in the Psy-Changeling series.

This is quickly becoming a favorite series

If you could sum up Mine to Possess in three words, what would they be?

Broken-home leopard drama (sorry, guess that's 4 words)

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the couple in focus in this story (Clay and Talin) have known each other before, and goes into the nuances of a relationship with past history. Given that in the previous stories that characters are relatively new to each other, I liked this new twist. Adding some heavy stuff to their past made it more difficult for them, but more enjoyable for the reader.

What three words best describe Angela Dawe’s voice?

Serviceable times three. As I have mentioned in previous reviews for this series, she is not my favorite, but also avoids being too breathy (think Xe Sands) or too hard (Arika Rapson) so I can't really complain. However, one thing that was not cool with this production were some very audible swallows and pauses while she transitioned from voice to voice, or going to the next page. Ultimately that's a production/ editing issue but it was super noticeable and got a little annoying when it happened frequently.

Any additional comments?

I LOVE LOVE LOVED book 3 in this series, so this was a tough sell for me. I definitely enjoyed it and thought it was admirable of Ms Singh to introduce a character from an abusive home, but I loved the Brenna-Judd story so much it was a hard act to follow. If you are wondering about the series in general it's awesome, and I expect to love some books more than others, so any lack of "wow" I might be expressing is just because this wasn't a personal favorite. Still a great installment - if you're on the fence about it just go for it. Totally worth a credit!

Love the growth.

Absolutely love the growth. The new additions, changes as the Psy world expands. I personally would prefer that whole chapters eren't used for detailed, graphic sex. Fortunately there is fast forward button.

Found Family Goodness

Everything I love in a found family series came out in this one. Also, my problem is I want every side character I’m introduced to that I like to get their own book so now I gotta listen to them all to make sure they get their own book. In any case this was a heartfelt story that has some darker tones so tread carefully with this one. On to the next!

Just a little too angsty for me

This was still a good book, but not as good as I'd have liked. There was a lot of back story between the two main characters that didn't really even get hinted at in previous books. So it felt like the getting to re-know you part was crammed in with a lot of back story.

As always with these books, I love the world created and Nalini Singh does a great job with the general writing in the book. The narration remains unremarkable, but it doesn't detract from the story, so it works fine.

Dang this girl can tell a story!!

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2
REVIEW:
Clay Bennett has been chasing a ghost for years. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever think that that ghost would seek him out. But that is what just happened. The most important person to him in his life and someone who was suppose to be dead just stepped back into his life. But along with turning Clay’s world upside down with the fact that she is a live, Talin brings with her many secrets. Secrets that Clay may not be able to overlook.

Talin McKade is in dire need of help and there is only one person in the world that can help her. But Will Caly help her after he learns what she did, who she has becomes and the fact that there can be no future?

Dang this girl can tell a story!!!! Can Nalini write a bad story? I think not!! Clay and Talin have such a tortured past. It broke my heart so many time while listening to this story. It was great to watch both of them grow and learn to trust and love.

My only complaint about this story was that I was not wild about the voice that Angela picked for Clay. But in reality it most likely was the perfect voice for Clay. He all dark, dangerous and very animal.

Serisoulsy in love with Nalini and the Psy-Changeling series!!

Fun

I love how these books let you see the previous couples in the series. It isn't like once you're done with their book, they disappear. Instead the books are making their own web of couples that contribute to each following book. I like the main couple of this particular book and each couple is so different from the one before. I know basically how each one is going to end but how they get there is different. I also like seeing the developments in the overarching storyline with the Psy council. I'll definately continue to listen to each book. Angela Dawe as the narrator really embodies these books for me.
