WELL, HELLO BOYS! TO A NEW HIGHLAND WARRIOR SERIES

Firstly, although this is the start of a new series it does follow on from DG's Dark Sword Series and I felt, not having read this series, if I had of read these previous books then it would have made more sense and this book an even more enjoyable listen as there were a few names, words or references that you are expected to know about but don't so it lost a point for this I'm afraid.

Having said all that I thought this was a great start to an exciting new series - Gwynn goes on a quest to find her missing father in Scotland only to find Logan, a kilt wearing Highland Warrior from the 1600's, instead. Logan agrees to help Gwynn and their two quests become one.

Looking forward to listening to Midnight Lover which is book 2 and I hope Audible puts the Dark Sword series into their Library too.

Worth a credit? Great characters, a nice sexy romance and, of course, your hunky Highlander - what's not to like - so it's a YES from me.

Mixed Review

Although I did enjoy this book, it would have been so much better if I had read the original Dark Swords series. Dark Warriors is apparently a spin-off. At first the story didn't make much sense and I was confused by some of the players, names and other references to previous storylines. However, as the book went on I started to "catch-up" to the story and by the end I had it all figured out. Unfortunately, due to the confusing start and boring narrator I can only give this one 3.5 stars.

Great!

Another good series. I just could not listen to the Dark Swords series.. Anthony Ferguson is just horrible as a narrator. However, this series follows right after Dark Swords. I read all the dark swords but just could not listen.

So we have Logan, an immortal warrior on the search for Ian another immortal warrior. Logan, Ian and 3 more warriors got transported to the future from the Dark Swords series. They are trying to kill the evil Druid. Confusing, yes, but it all makes sense as the story goes on. Logan meets Gwyn who is looking for her Dad in Scotland. Gwyn is a Druid and her and Logan fall in love. The Warriors always mate with a Druid throughout all the books, Dark sword and Dark Warriors.

Logan and Gwyn story is really good. I like that Gwyn did not trust Logan right away as all heroines usually do.

Good buy/credit.

Narrations was awesome. Potter is on the of Xe Sands narration.

Narrator Not Good

The story is good but it could be great if not for the lack-luster, irritating narration. There are so many great narrators out there that I sometimes wonder why "just-ok" ones are used. This narrator ends so many sentences in unneccessary exclamation points that it becomes irritating. I find myself not listening and having to rewind and repeat sections. It takes this potentially great book and just makes it ok. I'm disappointed because I bought it based on a stellar review. My 2-cents is go in with low expectations on the narrator and maybe you'll end up liking the reading. I went in with way too high of expectations and am really disappointed. Maybe you'll like this. Maybe you'll feel like me and be like - meh. For me I would prefer to read this rather than listen to this narrator.

Kinda Cheesy

This book wasn’t horrible but it was predictable and kinda Cheesy. The only way I can explain what this book reminds me of, is it is fairy tale like. I gave up on the original series, for this reason. I guess this type of book just isn’t my cup of tea.

Great Book, Poor performance

Would you listen to Midnight's Master again? Why?

No, I don't think I could listen to this book again. The narrator shounded like she was in too much of a hurry to get done. There were no pauses (like a period) between end of chapters and beginning the next chapter. I like pauses at the end of the chapter - it gets me excited to move in to the next chapter. This made me feel anxious when moving hurridly into the next chapter. I'm questioning whether I want to listen to the rest of the series just because she is the narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gwyn was great!

What didn’t you like about Arika Escalona’s performance?

I hated her performance. Too fast, no pauses when needed. It was a hurried performance without much inflection. Female characters almost sounded exactly alike.

Any additional comments?

I like the books, but with this narrator, I would recommend reading the books instead of listening.

Not worth the credit!

Far to much going on in the story line... and I don't if it was the narration or if it was the way it was written...but some parts were plain ridiculous it was laughable!

Alpha finds his mate

Nice listen but it was a little long. It wasn't holding my interest enough for me to want to find out more and move onto the next Chapter. I liked the Characters... the beginning of the Story was rushed for Gwen and Logan's beginning. There some Heat happening with the MMC and MFC 🔥

Great story line

I really enjoyed this. Except for the narrator's lisp. She did great with the other voices and accents.

Exciting

I absolutely adore this series as well as the dragon kings. I will o had discovered this series first though. The warriors are all so tortured and the enemies are many. I will continue listening because as much as I love the series I also enjoy the narrator. She makes the story come alive. My only complaint is the author’s use of the word “turgid”! I hate that word!
