Publisher's Summary

One by one, people are mysteriously disappearing from a small Maine town.

Four months ago, a ruthless murderer killed two people and kidnapped three more, including Danny Sullivan’s sister, who barely escaped. Unfortunately so did the killer, vanishing without a trace into the vast wilderness. When the police fail to find his sister’s captor, Danny returns to Maine to hunt him down. He begins his search with another survivor, bed-and-breakfast owner Mandy Brown, but her refusal to cooperate raises Danny’s suspicions. What is the beautiful innkeeper hiding?

Mandy Brown has a secret. But sexy Danny Sullivan, his relentless questions, and the desire that simmers between them threaten to expose the truth - a revelation that puts her family in danger. As more people disappear, it becomes clear the killer is planning another ritual…and that he’s circling in on Mandy.

    "Decent story..top 3 of all-time narrators I think"
Where does Midnight Sacrifice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I only post written info if the story or narrator "moves' me enough to do so. I think I'd listen to anything this guy narrates. He was perfect. Every character, male or female, was just right. He didn't try to be feminine and mess it up. He just made slight adjustments to tone.
This book was enjoyable as a listen (not just a read) because it it so well done.
Off to seek more by this narrator....

    "Amazing"

I loved this book. The characters jump off the page. I laughed, I
cried and I worried how it would all sort out.

"Had a hard time with this book"

Had a hard time with this book. The way it's written leaves you confused at times about which character going to be a main part of the story and which character is just filler. And unfortunately there is a lot of Fillers. And again the characters lap a depth. A depth needed to make me want to root for them. The only character the author gets any life into is Bill. Even the dog that lives Bill isn't allowed by the writer to stay put and build a relationship. the author hints to a relationship. points it out when she writes the dog into the screen, but then removes the dog again from Bill. Although stating many times in the book, that Bill had separation issues and goes as far as not allowing the Danny to get close to her because Bill would be freaked out and dad when Danny had to leave again to his real life. Then the very next line, she calls and had the dog delivered for Bill. No depth in character. Lack luster story line that wondered all over. and over all a really hard book to finish reading.

This one was ok. Nothing special. The narrator seem to have low energy. I will try this author again but not the narrator.

I love all genres of books. However, when I listen to audio books as I clean, garden, drive they are better with a lot of heat!

    "Great book under $10"

It wasn’t until I started listening to Midnight Sacrifice that I realised it was part of a series and it wasn’t book one. Even though I am typically very picky about listening to all books in order and there were some references to book one, I did not feel lost in any way nor did I feel like I was missing key information so I would say this can definitely be listened too as a standalone book. There were enough teasers scattered throughout however that I am certainly going to be getting my hands on book one.

I loved this book, it had a little of everything, love, sex, suspense and I was kept guessing until almost the end. Melinda paints a vivid picture with her writing and you can easily identify with the characters and see yourself living among them. I planned to listen to just a few chapters before bed but - I just couldn't put it down, so much happens in this book emotionally I was a mess! there are more Sullivan's I wouldn't mind getting to know better.?

Ms. Leigh did a tremendous job of bringing the story to life. Her style of writing so was genuine and full of life that I felt like I had front row seats to the story playing out in front of me. All in all this was a fabulous story that I would recommend to anyone that enjoys a bit of mystery with their romance.

Christopher Lane did a great job with the delivery of the story.

    "Hmmm.."
    Any additional comments?

297 good reviews compared to 24 bad reviews on Amazon. Go figure!!
I happened to have loved all three of these books. I really liked Danny and Mandy and I thought Bill was written very well. I was sorry about Jed. But I was glad for Ken and Hunter and the others. Nathan was just as sick as his uncle Aaron. I wasn't surprised about who his assisstant was. It's a good series..

As to the narrator: I definately had to skip over the love scenes since Mandy sounded so much like a man. And the narrator had no emotion in his voice at all. I couldn't possibly listen to him again. Sorry..
