I got this book via audiobook boom. The narration was very well done. Loved Mena, Phoenix and Alex. Can't wait for the next book. The twist and turns in this story kept me wanting to shirk my duty and just listen to the whole story at one time. But discipline kept me from doing that. But when I got back to it. I listened until the end. The only problem I have with the book is the cliffhanger. I hate them. Just finish the story and create another one with the same characters. The minds that went into developing this story can write one without cliffhangers and just tie the next story to the first.
I loved this book! The characters were well developed, even though many of them were trying to figure out what it really means to be a shifter. Is it possible to fall in love with fictional characters? Many of the characters were developed enough that I could feel as though they were real people-- and if they were, they would be date-able material. I didn't want to stop listening to this book until I reached the conclusion.
The only thing I wish is that I would have listened to the prequel to this book. The authors frequently alludes to things that occurred in the prequel, but this book was done well enough that I could follow the story without having listened to it. I honestly think that I just want to spend more time with these characters.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes paranormal romance novels!
This review copy audiobook was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge.
I didn't think I was going to be able to finish this story, it really struggled to grab my attention and I was going to stop reading but I stuck it out and boy am I glad I did. I got really into it and found myself struggling to stop listening. I think my favorite part of the book was "peanut" i couldn't stop laughing everytime they said it. I am really excited to find out what the next book has in store for the 3 of them.
the while book is different then normal vamp werewolf books and to listen really makes it awesome
non that I have read this is new and refreshing

when Mena found first was with Pheonix
this book is awesome start to finish. Out of the box is a great way. This is book 2 but can be listened to even if first is not read . Mena has a real strugle with her wolf who her plans and is hell bent getting it / Pheonix is a favorite of mine we now have Alex who Menas wolf wants , what a story line
I'm an audiobook blogger for authors and narrators. I do reviews and post all things Romance, Horror and Sci-Fi
Or maybe the title should be, “How to have your cake and eat it too!” Mena's horrified when she discovers she's a werewolf. Not just any werewolf, but an alpha wolf responsible for a pack. But how can Mena control her pack when she can’t even control her wolf. Then there are those two pesky hunks playing havoc with her emotions and libido, Mena’s attracted to powerful vampire Phoenix. If only her wolf would get on the same page! Mena’s wolf is too busy panting after Alex a human cop. Hmm… which cake will Mena choose?
This audiobook was a joy to experience, the writing team of KS Haigwood and Anne Conley works well as they weave a story full of emotion, sometimes heartbreaking, action, suspense and of course just the right amount of sex to send any self-respecting wolf lover into heat.
The audiobook slides in at just under 14 hours and is narrated by Pyper Down. What an awesome job she does in this fully-voice production! Pyper gives the characters a sense of maturity and world-weariness that the writing dictates. The pacing of her storytelling was perfect.
I look forward to hearing more stories from authors KS Haigwood and Anne Conley. Narrator Pyper Down has found a new fan as well.
This audiobook was gifted to me exchange for an unbiased review!
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. This book was awesome!!! I'm going to buy the next one right now so I can find out what happens next! All of the characters were well written and easy to love. I couldn't imagine the choices she has to make because I would want all 3 for myself ;) A Great Book! plus the narrator was spot on with the voices!!
Say something about yourself!
I was given this book free for an unbiased review.
Great series! I was introduced to a new world of Werewolf, Vampire and Witch society. Ancient enemies trying to unite while navigating new leadership, love triangles, revenge and betrayal. I didn't read the prequel so the first third of the book I knew there was a background I was missing but it didn't interfere with the unfolding story. Midway through I was hooked. There were a lot of things happening to a lot of different characters. Not everything had closure in my opinion, but my guess is that the next book will see them through. I was left with such compassion for both Phoenix and Ace, and know I would be hopelessly lost if I was in Mena's situation. The ending left me satisfied enough to call it (almost) a HEA but with a thirst for an answer to an obvious dilemma.
Narration was superb. There was a run of chapters that pulled my crazy card, though. Every time the dialog said they laughed or chuckled a response, the narrator tossed in a chuckle and it was always the same sound regardless of the character, which quickly became annoying.
Definitely, 2 THUMBS UP!
I am addicted to audiobooks. It makes my 1 hour (each way) commute go by without me becoming an agressive driver. lol
I received this audio book free for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book the authors gave us so much that I bought the second book. Haven't quite finished it yet, but there is only a couple hours left. Haigwood and Conley evidently have a great team to have come up with such a great story. Mena and Phoenix and Ace. Oh and don't forget the cop. What a combination. At the end of the book, I'm not sure who I was rooting for. Maybe Phoenix. But, once you get into book number two, you might change your mind, or you will be as confused as me as to who to choose. Anyway, Pyper Down did a great job of portraying each of the characters. I really enjoyed her narration. Looking forward to more books by these authors.
I Couldn't wait to get stuck into this book and I wasn't disappointed.
Mena, after being bitten by her husband then killing him, is now a newly turned werewolf and also the Alpha, her heart wants the high vampire Phoenix but her wolf wants the human homicide detective Alex who knows nothing about supernaturals! Can she really unite vampires and wolves whilst learning how to be an alpha?
As though that isn't enough, there's betrayal within her pack and her wolf is hiding a secret from her that could result in death and destruction for everyone, Mena has till the next full moon to find a way to take back control of her wolf or forfeit not only her life but also those joined to her thanks to the Nexus!
There's so much happening in this book with Mena juggling her new life, her conniving wolf and two men. I love Mena's character and couldn't help but feel sympathy for her, Alex and Phoenix, just which of them will she choose ? Can she really have either of them ? The twists and turns and unexpected surprises make this a very addictive read and I for one couldn't get enough.
