Stewart Glen, Scotland - 1514
Masked in a Gypsy guise, Broderick MacDougal hides his vampiric identity while seeking to destroy the man who slaughtered his family. When an old Clan rival ensnares Broderick in a trap using an enticing widow, he is compelled to discover if she is bait or an accomplice, and the cinnamon-haired beauty is his next conquest.
Widow of an abusive husband, Davina Stewart-Russell clings to the only image that gave her strength during those dark times - the Gypsy rogue who stole her heart as a youth. After nine years, she is finally face-to-face with him again, but reality clashes with fantasy as she is confronted with Broderick's passionate pursuit.
When Davina's past returns to haunt her, Broderick is forced to reveal a dark secret worse than anything Davina thought possible. The challenge before them has fatal risks and neither of them is prepared for the sacrifices expected for the sake of eternal love.
Listener Advisory: The abridged version of Midnight Conquest still includes all the original storyline details, action and nail-biting scenes of violence and domestic abuse. (Don't worry...the bad guys get it in the end!). However, the love scenes have been edited and are no longer described in graphic and direct language, in order to appeal to a wider audience. As such, there are no more "glistening folds" details. (Collective groan of disappointment ensues...) Though this story can be enjoyed by listeners slightly younger than 18, parental discretion is still advised.

He has the right voice, tone, pitch and pace..
The setting of the novel takes place during 16 th Century Scotland.
There is just about everything in this storyline including a Prophecy, Two Romances, Blood Slave(s), Gypsy Fortune Tellers, War-Death, and Betrayal.
Broderick, the main male leads, most pressing concern is seeking revenge against an enemy.
He has a chance encounter with Davina, the female lead, they both seem to leave some kind of impression on each other, too bad he meets her several years too soon..
Years pass by when they finally meet again and Davina's concern is that Broderick doesn't remember her.
I liked Broderick, he was a decent male lead and I also liked Davina who was strong in character yet also sweet.
Overall, the storyline is an engaging emotional roller coaster not for the faint of heart, however, the storyline pulls you in and rewards the reader with an ending that will alleviate the scenes of violence and angst.
David Monteath was the best person to do the narration. "Awesome Sauce"..

I loved this audiobook! I have read the ebook already and liked it so much that I wanted to hear it so I could enjoy it all over again. I loved the Scottish accent. A whole new take on the vampire genre. A Scottish gypsy vampire! Give this audiobook a listen and you won't regret it. I know I didn't.
I received this book as a gift for an honest review.
Long lasting love.
I really enjoyed the sparring between Brodrick and Davina
Very versatile and smooth voice.
No, I like longer books.
At first I was not to sure about the reader but after a while WOW did his voice fit the part. I loved the book
:( not one that as a mom I would ever want to say out load and the part afterwards, You have to listen or read the book to know where it pulls at my hea rt the most.
This is my first book with David and wow, it was wonderful
If I could have sat and listened in one sitting I would have, Hitting pause was something I did not want to do
This book is wonderful, you can read my amazon review if you like :)
This is the first of Mr. Monteath's books that I have listened to. He has an amazing voice and is very talented. The voice he gave to Broderick was very smooth and comforting. I could listen to that all day long. Mr. Monteath also had good voices for all of the other characters. He brought more life into the story and made me want to continue on with the book. I'm happy to see that he has narrated book 2 in this series. I'm going to have to check that one out.
At over 12 hours long, I would say it would be best to break this book up into manageable sections. I listened to it in about 3 to 4 days.
(Side note: this is an abridged recording of the book)
Ms. Burnz has written an intriguing tale of vampires in 16th century Scotland. I felt that the characters were well written and had depth to them. I liked how she made Davina one who stood up for herself the best that she could. This is a book that I would recommend to someone who likes a good paranormal story. As the description states, there is some scenes of domestic abuse that for some could be a trigger.

Narration was fabulous! I could really picture the story as it unfolded. Highly recommend
This was an epiphany for me. I have never understood the appeal of audiobooks. My experience with them was limited to The Bible and a non-fiction book I played on a long solo drive. I tried Midnight Conquest after re-reading it to see how the audio version compares. What a surprise! I loved it! The narrator, David Monteath, is a impressive with a large vocal range and acting expertise. The pace is just right and the quality of he recording couldn't be better. I did not feel I was missing anything in the abridged version. I wasn't even tempted to look for edits. It's all there.
These characters are well drawn and engaging. I couldn't choose a favorite.
My favorite scene was the near the beginning when the main characters meet for the first time. It is the foundation for the rest of the story.
There was and I would never spoil it for others by describing it here. I will only assure you that love can overcome all.
Highly recommended! You will love this story in the audio format even if you have already read it.
This is a very well written story! The narrator is also awesome! He really made the story come alive! I loved his accent, it was perfect for the story and was just super well done. I was sucked in very quickly and then I didn't want to put it down. I had to find out what was going to happen next and how it was all going to work out. Broderick and Davina are very well written characters that draw you into the story. This world has been crafted very well and I loved the way that we were introduced and brought into the world. It's different but figuring things out wasn't hard and getting too much information at once didn't happen. It was done very well. Broderick and Davina meet when she is young and he foretells her going through very rough times but to hold on to an image of strength and not give up, that image ends up being him. He shows up years later after Davina has gone through years of trouble and Broderick's enemy has shown up. Broderick knows that Angus, his enemy, has included Davina in his plans but he doesn't know how. I really enjoyed how the relationship was grown and how things progressed in the story. There is plenty of intrigue and guessing going on and action to keep you interested in the story. There is a lot of sexual tension in this story and the sex would be considered explicit but it isn't often. Once you start reading the story, that will make complete sense with the characters and story line. I felt that this was a great start to the series and I can't wait to read the next one.

I think that both the audio and written book are both great. Listening to the book while puttering around the house and driving did make it easier at times.
The characters in this story are well rounded and fascinating. The plot is well thought out and makes this a great book to listen to.
His voice and vocal mannerisms made the characters very believable.
Revenge isn't the only reward.
"Very sexy historical paranormal romance!"
Midnight Conquest is the first book in the Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles series and introduces sexy Scottish vampire Broderick MacDougal and his beloved mortal soulmate.
Set in sixteenth century Scotland, this is a historical paranormal romance and a genre that I have not read before, but the series as a whole really intrigued me and I could not turn it down when given the opportunity to read it. The book starts with Broderick's turning and the reason behind his need to avenge his family. Under a gypsy guise, Broderick then meets thirteen year old Davina and steals her young heart. Years later, Davina and Broderick meet again, Broderick recognises her as his soulmate but Davina is now trapped in a loveless marriage to an abusive man. When Davina's husband dies in battle, Broderick sets out to seduce her, but with secrets, lies, family feuds, mythical prophecies, and ghosts from the past returning, can Broderick and Davina really find their happy ever after.
Midnight Conquest is a very captivating book but be prepared to invest a bit of time because it is quite a long, it is well worth reading though as there is plenty of romance, angst and action to make this a real page turner. The romance between Broderick and Davina is very well written and comes across very clearly as being a soul deep connection. They have great sexual tension and Arial Burnz definitely knows how to write scorching hot sex scenes!
David Monteath really brings this story alive. Broderick is a very sexy and seductive character and to have his words spoken to you is quite the experience! This is an abridged version of the book, but if it had not been shortened, I thing it would have been too long. This is a great adaptation with an excellent choice of narrator.
