When esteemed Justice Department attorney Theo Buchanan is struck ill at a New Orleans gala, Dr. Michelle Renard works fast to save his life. Soon, Theo finds himself in a race to save her when Michelle is targeted by a deadly crime ring. They call themselves the Sowing Club, a devious foursome driven by greed to accumulate millions in a secret bank account. Now they're dead set on silencing Michelle, who might know the secret behind the killing of one of their wives. Dodging a world-class hit man and a band of cunning criminals, Michelle and Theo walk a narrow path between passion and survival.

A Good One!

I didn't want the story to end. I laughed, cheered and just plain couldn't stop listening. This is a wonderful story set in the bayous of Louisiana. The charm of the plain folks, and the Boston attorney who, was accepted and coerced by everyone to remain there won me over swiftly.
The story was riveting and you couldn't help cheering for the good guys to win. Michelle and Theo are very likable as a couple and you can't help but think they were intended for each other.
Give this one a try you will enjoy it as I did.
About the narrator, she did a fantastic job. It is very hard to emulate a southern, cajun accent. I grew up in New Orleans and trust me when I say it is hard to speak the way they do unless you are born there. So my hat is off to you MS.Taister you did a credible job switching between a Bostonian accent to a Cajun dialect, even throwing in a twang of Mississipian.

Garwood's best

I have read everything that Garwood has written, but she typically has a few problems with her books - usually the quality of writing. This is the best work she has ever done. (In fact, I am a little surprised with how well it is written - new editor?) Her characters are usually well developed and interesting; she usually has adequate plots; and, she often weaves in subtle humor. She does all of these very well in this book. Her solid writing, along with an excellent reader (one of the best I have heard)pushes this book over the top - very well done. Can Garwood do it again? Let's hope.

Speaking Bostonian

Don't try accents you really can't do. Just read the book straight. The Cajun accent wasn't easy to listen to either

Julie Garwood’s BEST!!❤️😍🥰💃🏻

This book blew me away — it has everything:
humor, suspense, ROMANCE, excitement, charm, and sexy scenes! I fell in love with the characters —- even the minor characters! It left me wanting more of the citizens of the small southern town of Bowen, Louisiana.
It is laugh-out-loud funny and I know I’ll be listening to this book again and again. A large part of the charm of this book is the narrator- Christina Traister. . She does an amazing job with both the Cajun accents and the Boston accent of the hero. I really don’t understand the negative reviews of some other readers —
Ms. Traister was outstanding! I could to listen to Big Daddy Jake all day long!!!
All in all, this is easily one of the most enjoyable, entertaining books I’ve ever listened to, and I have a huge library! Buy it—- you won’t be sorry:))

Mercy

OMG! I've never wanted an ending to come so soon. The narrator was great but goodness the story was as slow as a snail and it's just unrealistic how long it took for anyone to catch on with the stupid club. And how the package was taken too. Pathetic. And they didn't even catch all the bad guys too.
I don't know, I'm just so unimpressed and that's just sad for a Julie Garwood story.

Good Book

Good book could have been even better but the horrendously bad narration of the southern slurred accents almost stopped me from listening to it all. Glad I stuck with it in spite of that.

The book was great... The narration was just ok

I really enjoyed the story and the narrator would be fantastic in any other book where a male southern accent isn't a part of the story... Esp a Cajun accent. Every single time she spoke as one of the male characters I was reminded of Yogi Bear saying"Heya BooBoo!! Get thata pick-i-nick basket!" It was so annoying in a funny way. I couldn't helping laughing at her voices even in serious parts of the book. Entertaining though. Worth an on sale price for sure, worth a credit as a story hands down!

Great performance!

This performer did a wonderful job with her inflections, the accents of each of the characters, and her narration! Great job!

Expect the unexpected

I read this book years ago and decided to listen to the audiobook for my reread. I thought Christina Traister did a good job giving everyone their own voice with accents for most of the book. Theo and Michelle are exactly the type of characters I like to have in my books. Both of them were confident in their own abilities and place in their world, but were able to give the other something they were lacking. They had a connection from the word go, but I thought their relationship moved forward at the right pace. This story had humor and heart and some of the best side characters I’ve ever read about. There were parts of the story that went exactly how I expected and parts that I never saw coming (or barely remembered since this was a reread). This world is definitely worth revisiting multiple times.
