Tall, dark and eligible? That’s all that matters to the women of Jacobsville when it comes to handsome and aloof FBI agent Jon Blackhawk. But if it were up to him, he would never settle down. Luckily, Jon has the best gatekeeper: his efficient and reliable assistant, Joceline Perry. Without her help, he’d be at the mercy of husband hunters — but the more he comes to rely on her, the more he notices how invaluable she really is....
While Joceline can’t deny that her boss is attractive, as a single mother with responsibilities she’s determined to be professional. But when Jon is accosted by a criminal seeking revenge, she comes to his aid — fueling the spark that is growing between them. As the attempts on Jon’s life increase, Joceline stands by his side. But when the smoke clears, will the man who avoided love realize that all he ever needed was right there all along?

I love alot of Diana Palmer's books but this one was slow. The story was just dumb. And a 30 year old cowboy virgin Oh come on Diana what where you thinking when you wrote this one. There was no real romance or even good sex in the story line. I'm really worried I have to listen to another one of her books I downloaded i it's as bad as this one I may stop listening to her books all together.
Loved this story! Another great story that make you really care about the new people we meet and enjoy re-visiting those we've come to love through other books. Who wouldnt want to be involved and live in these communities? I know I would. Keep them coming Ms. Palmer I can't wait for the next installment.
I love books, it's my great escape.
Typical but good. I like this because I can trust that a story by Palmer will not disappoint. I have wanted to hear the story of Jon Blackhawk for a while now. So glad I took the time to get this one. Jon is tall, dark, sexy and sweet. Sometimes life is stranger than fiction so I could really buy into the premise of this story. Jon and Joceline have one night of passion, but Jon does not remember. Joceline has been keeping a little secret for year from Jon, but finally the truth will come out and its love and happiness for this couple. I found it to be an enjoyable and touching.
Hope Springs Eternal!
The twist, finding the real killer of Kilraven's daughter. Wow, who would have thought.
Jon's revelation. I cried for him.
It was alright. It was an enjoyable listen.
The happy ending was nice.
I could not stand the little boy!! Since when can a 3 year talk properly and accept anything his mother tells him with no complaints.
This was an odd book. The storyline was fine, nothing that I'll remember in two years, but not boring by any means. However, the characters are so old-fashioned. When I went back to check the publication date, I was surprised to see that it was 2011. I would have thought is was more like 1980 (or even earlier!). The morals of the characters are completely old-fashioned and even prudish by today's standards. Don't get me wrong, they're admirable, but not realistic. You don't find too many 30 year-old, hot, successful, non-neurotic men who are still virgins or fantastic, successful, single moms who are completely shunned for having a child out of wedlock. Had the characters been more realistic, the story would have been much better.
Also, given that the main character is a women, why would they have a man as the reader? Every time he does the main character's voice, he makes her sound like a weak, helpless woman - which she is absolutely not.
