Sometimes the next best thing is what you’ve been looking for all along….
Beth Chandler has spent her whole life pleasing others. She went to law school to make her grandparents happy. She agreed to marry her workaholic boyfriend, Lucas, to make him happy. And, despite her fear of boats, she took a ferry to see Lucas’s parents just to make them happy.
While suffering through a panic attack on the ferry, Beth meets a tall, sexy stranger who talks her down from her fear - and makes her heart flutter in the process. Soon, she has a new reason to panic: her gorgeous, blue-eyed rescuer is Lucas’s brother, Joe. But could she ever leave her fiancé for his own brother…even if Lucas is more focused on making partner than on making their relationship work…and even if Joe turns out to be everything she never knew she wanted?

I had just finished a very sad book....characters dying, prison sentences for an 18 year old etc....this book is a breath of fresh air. I needed something fun and lighthearted.

Like having a donut instead of whole grain toast for breakfast, sometimes it's fun listening to a light hearted (but not mind-numbing) romantic drama. Yes, some things were obvious from the beginning and the end was not a huge surprise. However the island setting, humor, and a variety of supporting characters including a lovable dog made "Meant to Be" an enjoyable escape from reality.
Solidly written, but fairly predictable romance (is that redundant?). Entertaining characters, and small town island location make it a guilty pleasure. Good for when you want something light.
Terri Osburn - yes, if it was narrated by someone else.
I actually thought it was Siri from the iPhone at first... and then assumed it was a computer program. I don't even know how the narrator gets her voice to sound so monotone and computer-like! I couldn't get past it - the only reason I was able to finish the book is because I really liked the story. From now on, I'll ALWAYS play the audio sample before I purchase.
This was really a fantastic story with a lot of depth. The characters were well developed, however, the language was excessive and unnecessary.
The range of characters. A lot of different personalities to identify with.
Joe and Sid. Joe was so quiet that he came off as kind of mysterious. Sid has the mouth of a truck driver but you can tell there's a good person underneath all the tough talk that's dying to get out. Can't wait to follow her story in the next book.
I almost didn't order the second book because of the excessive language. It reminded me of being on the playground and trying to impress your friends with who had the foulest mouth.
For as much as I read and listen you would think by now that I would know how to spell lol. I read at least 5 books a week there are times I have gotten up to 10 in a week.
The narrartor was so bad I couldn't even finished this book. I got 2 1/2 hours in and then wanted to shove an ice pick in my ears just so I didn't have to listen to her anymore. She was flat and her voice just got on my nerves.
