Publisher's summary

Andie Miller is ready to move on with her life. She wants to marry her fiancé and leave behind everything in her past, especially her ex-husband, North Archer. But when Andie tries to gain closure with him, he asks one final favor of her. A distant cousin has died and left North the guardian of two orphans who have driven away three nannies already, and things are getting worse. He needs someone to take care of the situation, and he knows Andie can handle anything....

When Andie meets the two children, she realizes the situation is much worse than she feared. Carter and Alice aren’t your average delinquents, and the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers. Complicating matters is Andie’s fiancé’s suspicion that this is all a plan by North to get Andie back. He may be right, because Andie’s dreams have been haunted by North since she arrived at the old house. And that’s not the only haunting....

Then her ex-brother-in-law arrives with a duplicitous journalist and a self-doubting parapsychologist, closely followed by an annoyed medium, Andie’s tarot card–reading mother, her avenging ex-mother-in-law, and her jealous fiancé. Just when Andie’s sure things couldn’t get more complicated, North arrives to make her wonder if maybe this time things could just turn out differently....

Loved This Book

I have loved every book I have listened to by Jennifer Crusie (Bet Me, Welcome to Temptation) and Maybe This Time is no different, in fact I think it is my favorite. This is great chick lit with a little bit of paranormal tossed in to mix things up. The narrator is great and in my mind perfect for all the voices. The story line is interesting and just different enough from the normal chick lit to keep you on your toes. If you like romance, creepy old houses, and ghosts then you have to try this book. Even if the paranormal puts you off you should try this book, the paranormal is there but not overwhelming. This is one of my favorite books I have listened to this year.

Great story, great narration.

I love almost all of Crusie's work and this one is no exception. Very creative and the dialogue is exceptional.

Love this story...time after time

This is one of a handful of audio books that I listen to over and over again. The numerous characters are all integral to the story, the interactions between the characters make the story entertaining and listening a pleasure.

The plot has many twists and turns that make me want to keep listening (and listen again). Plus there is the real possibility of ghosts.
My favorite part happen throughout the book as Andie goes back and forth between believing in ghosts or not. She doesn't want to because she is a practical person...but the evidence in favor of the evidence of ghosts gets to be a little overwhelming.

I am not a ghost-story kind of person, but the presence of ghosts in this book was handled matter-of-factly and their presence is explained with a bit of skepticism until the facts pile of and the listener has to believe that they are real.

The narrator blends into the story seamlessly. Everything about this book is highly recommended!

Entertaining for the commute

Although not outstanding or particularly memorable, I did enjoy the story and it kept my attention during the commute. However, it wasn't the kind of book that made me plug in the iPhone as soon as I got home to continue the listen. The narrator did a nice job although I found the men's dialog a bit strange.

Fun light read

If you want just a feel good story with decent plot, this is it. I laughed out loud several times. I liked the light supernatural element. Even if you aren't a fan of that kind of thing I don't think it would bother you.

Fun book. Awesome reader

I've read 'Bet Me' several times because it's just so - fun. And clever. And witty. By far, my favorite Crusie book. So after reading the reviews for this one I took the plunge and spent a precious Audible credit. I loved it! Again, smart writing and strong characters. And as much as I enjoyed the story I was utterly enthralled by the reader! She is fantastic!! I will absolutely listen to her again and again. And now, I'm off to find more Angela Dawe novels... and if she's the reader for 'Bet Me' I'm going to start there.

just plain fun

Jennifer Cruisie sure writes fun stories. This one was a little different than some of her others, but I have never been disappointed. Just a plain fun read.

A Realistic Love Story

The writing was intelligent, quick witted, funny, and senual. I was hooked into the story from the very beginning because it caught my attention. The characters are complicated but I was able to follow. The only suggestion, the male characters should be read by men, not women pretending to be men. It just caught me off guard. Otherwise, I laughed out loud, and really got into the story.

This is my first Audible book and first Jennifer Crusie's book. Great experience!

A Chick Lit My Hubby even liked!

Where does Maybe This Time rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top percentage. For its quick moving storyline and surprises.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The lead character Andie. She's tough, smart and jut a little less cynical than she thinks.

What does Angela Dawe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice of the Auntie with its tinkly laughter and sinister whisper. You just had to love her eventually. Trying NOT to spoil!!

Any additional comments?

Really cute story with a feel good ending. Narrator is fabulous.
