Publisher's summary

Andie Miller is ready to move on with her life. She wants to marry her fiancé and leave behind everything in her past, especially her ex-husband, North Archer. But when Andie tries to gain closure with him, he asks one final favor of her. A distant cousin has died and left North the guardian of two orphans who have driven away three nannies already, and things are getting worse. He needs someone to take care of the situation, and he knows Andie can handle anything....

When Andie meets the two children, she realizes the situation is much worse than she feared. Carter and Alice aren’t your average delinquents, and the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers. Complicating matters is Andie’s fiancé’s suspicion that this is all a plan by North to get Andie back. He may be right, because Andie’s dreams have been haunted by North since she arrived at the old house. And that’s not the only haunting....

Then her ex-brother-in-law arrives with a duplicitous journalist and a self-doubting parapsychologist, closely followed by an annoyed medium, Andie’s tarot card–reading mother, her avenging ex-mother-in-law, and her jealous fiancé. Just when Andie’s sure things couldn’t get more complicated, North arrives to make her wonder if maybe this time things could just turn out differently....

Vintage Crusie!

This was a wonderful book. A ghost story with a twist, a love story, a family story - a terrific Jennifer Crusie book with a perfect narrator.

Great!

Loved it. I didn't want it to be over when I finished it. I enjoyed the sense of humor...the mystery...the bit of romance. It held my attention clear to the end..

Cute escape

Had I known this book centered around the paranormal I would have chosen something else. With that said, it was a cute escape from reality and I found myself wanting to know just how everything turned out. It was a bit sappy, but it explored the different forms love can take including the concept that love doesn't end with death. This book offers a light hearted diversion from the hardships of the world. I would recommend it to anyone who feels tainted by negativity and needs a dose of feel good happily ever after.

Fun, funny, fabulous...

With some woo-woo suspense thrown in. I loved this book and will re-read it for certain. Or re-listen in this case. :)

Different from other Crusie books but just as good

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the book had a variety of interesting characters and I liked that it focused a lot on the relationship between Andie and the kids. A change of pace from most romance books I've come across.

Ghost Story/Slapstick comedy/Romance

This was kind of a ghost story with slapstick comedy and a little romance thrown in. The narrator did a good job with the voices. I really like the way she portrayed the voice of North, the boyfriend of the main character, Andie.

This isn't a story I would HIGHLY recommend but it isn't bad either. Maybe get it on sale or a two for one credit.
