Publisher's summary

Andie Miller is ready to move on with her life. She wants to marry her fiancé and leave behind everything in her past, especially her ex-husband, North Archer. But when Andie tries to gain closure with him, he asks one final favor of her. A distant cousin has died and left North the guardian of two orphans who have driven away three nannies already, and things are getting worse. He needs someone to take care of the situation, and he knows Andie can handle anything....

When Andie meets the two children, she realizes the situation is much worse than she feared. Carter and Alice aren’t your average delinquents, and the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers. Complicating matters is Andie’s fiancé’s suspicion that this is all a plan by North to get Andie back. He may be right, because Andie’s dreams have been haunted by North since she arrived at the old house. And that’s not the only haunting....

Then her ex-brother-in-law arrives with a duplicitous journalist and a self-doubting parapsychologist, closely followed by an annoyed medium, Andie’s tarot card–reading mother, her avenging ex-mother-in-law, and her jealous fiancé. Just when Andie’s sure things couldn’t get more complicated, North arrives to make her wonder if maybe this time things could just turn out differently....

Loved It!!!

I love a book with suspense and romance (not all mushy, mushy). This one has both and held my interest from the beginning to the end. This was my second audio by Jennifer Crusie and will purchase more of them. It could become a movie, except they would butcher the story when they rewrite and start filming, so maybe it should be left alone as a book. I wish she would write a sequel about the brother--maybe I will go to her website and suggest it.

Every time I write a review on these audio tapes, I can't stress it enough, the narrator can make or break a book. Angela Dawe's does a wonderful job distinguishing the characters--you can hear the difference (will listen to more from her as well).

Get it, you will enjoy. Glad to be the first to review.

Loved This Book

I have loved every book I have listened to by Jennifer Crusie (Bet Me, Welcome to Temptation) and Maybe This Time is no different, in fact I think it is my favorite. This is great chick lit with a little bit of paranormal tossed in to mix things up. The narrator is great and in my mind perfect for all the voices. The story line is interesting and just different enough from the normal chick lit to keep you on your toes. If you like romance, creepy old houses, and ghosts then you have to try this book. Even if the paranormal puts you off you should try this book, the paranormal is there but not overwhelming. This is one of my favorite books I have listened to this year.

SHE'S BACK! Jenifer Cruisie Fabulous!

This is a Jenifer Cruisie Book...Finally after so long. She writes such a good story. She knows how to get your attention and keep it. This is her kind of story, intriguing, fun, sexy in the best way, moving....she is fast and fun. I enjoyed this book so much. The Narrator Ms. DAwes is perfect. She gives life to EVERY character. Top Notch.

I prefer you leave the Y.A. out

Really enjoyed Crusie's early stuff. Her books are largely what got me started reading romance to begin with. Lately, I find she forgets to put the romance in her romances. The same sparkling dialogue and quirky characters are there, but no sexual sizzle. This one, with it's emphasis on children, felt particularly like a young adult novel to me. I definitely prefer a naughtier read, but if your sensibility is geared more to G-ratings, you might like this book a lot - it has a retro - 60's Disney feel. If you're looking for emotion and heat, however, I'd keep browsing.

Enjoyed my first time with Jennifer Crusie

This is the first Jennifer Crusie book that I've listened to and thought it was a great read. The characters are quirky and interesting, and even though "Maybe This Time" is essentially a ghost story, Ms. Crusie crafted it so well, that it was easy to suspend belief and just go with the flow. The romance is not overbearing and I liked the fact that it wasn't the only main point to the book. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Ok

This was my first Jennifer Crusie novel so I am not sure if this book reflects her usual writing style. The romance in this novel was not well developed and more attention could have been given to the central relationship. The hero is under developed as a character and the unfolding mystery plot overwhelms most of the book. As a mystery/ghost story it's not a bad read but fairly tame if your a diehard paranormal mystery fan. Overall the book held my attention well enough for a sleepy Sunday but it wasn't anything to rave about.

Pretty Good

For die hard fans of Jennifer Crusie, you'll appreciate this book. It's got her typical quirky dialogue, slightly off center female heroine, and kooky cast of extras. It's not as good as Bet Me, but not a bad listen.

Finished it too fast

I have missed the "just Jennifer" books - Books that she has written with other authors are OK, but I prefer the ones she writes by herself.

Really enjoyed the book - it is not the best of the ones she has written but still very good. The narrator is excellent.

Fun novel and Awesome narration

This book is fun to listen to... plus the narration is really amazing. Except that at the end chapters, I got so tired of listening to Andy having an argument with the dead aunt, plus that addition of two ghosts. I kinda' tempted to fast forward these parts.I think they could have been done better. All in all, it is a fun novel and worth listening to.

Ist time listen to Jennifer Crusie

Listen to Jennifer Crusie for the first time and the last. It could have been decent if it wasnt for the she said, he said, they said over and over. That took away from the whole book. Dont waste your credit like I did, I said!!!
