Amusing book!

This book was funny, it reminded me a bit of the Molly Harper Werewolf books.

Mica is a human female that visits her uncle two weeks out of the year, he is a werewolf. He's made sure since she was 5 that she understood what he was and how to handle werewolves. What he didn't explain to her was how maybe she shouldn't come to town during the summer because that is mating season and well...ALL the werewolves are horny. She learns this first hand though after being accosted by 4 werewolves while she was walking to the store. Thankfully a sane werewolf came and rescued her, but he did demand a bit of payment of the sexual variety.

Mica's uncle realizes she isn't safe, she needs a guard. He has several pack mates come to the house and hes going to choose one based on who looks at her in the least sexual way. Mica thinks this is a ridiculous concept but is fairly shocked when she sees her rescuer from the night before....she won't look at him, he won't look at her, and poof that is her uncles choice for her guardian.

Comedy ensues, one mistake after the next, it was great to listen to these characters interact. "No, I didn't want to go out but she told me I either had to take her out or strip. You told me you would take my balls if I touched her, so stripping was out."

Great stuff, good for credit or buy and the narrator was good too!

What did you love best about Mate Set?

I loved the story line. I like the animal/human characters. Both characters were honest with their feelings.

What other book might you compare Mate Set to and why?

His Purrfect Mate. It is the second book in the series.

What does G. C. VonCloudts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great character voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and cried some. It was a really good story.

If you could sum up Mate Set in three words, what would they be?

book 1 & 2 are worth the listening time. Good use of imagination from author. this author is not for me on her other stories. Great outline, but the full story is just not there. Author has several different story lines going. So I tried at least one of each and some about 3 of the series. Her editor knows how to market her material and I did give it a good try. My fellow reviewers loved this author, but from me "beware" and do not over buy all at once.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

this story just fine, but reader just did not do it for me.

How could the performance have been better?

I have been on a mission to find some new great readers...what a chore it has been.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen, but I tend to do this when I start a book

Try 1 before buying more in a series. This author has at least 3 series and one or more maybe for you.

Immature Mika

Totally sick of selfish immature Mika. She does not deserve Grady.
Having a hard time finishing the book because Mika just pisses me off with her willful selfishness.

Interesting Storyline

The storyline was interesting and kept me listening; however, I’m concerned after hearing preview for next book that it will be too similar to this one; I will probably listen to it since I like the main wolf character. G.C. did an okay job with narration, but adding an actual male narrator would enhance the experience.

So So Hot!

Wow this was super hot, I loved every minute of it. The book's summary wasn't intriguing enough for me to purchase it, but, I've enjoyed Dohner's other series so I figured I could risk it. I listened in one sitting--I was THAT hooked. If you want a story with a ton of depth, this isn't the one for you, but, if you're open to a bit of fantasy, seriously hot shifter sex, and definitely a lot of sarcasm, innuendo and humor, don't even read the rest of my review--'add to cart' immediately!

Great narrating

This is my first time listening to this author, I find her writing close to the edge, but I like that. Mika was a little annoying at times but the story was good enough to over look her. A lot of new audio books are being narrated by very young voices, not so with this one. J.C. VonCloudts performance is excellent and I would look for more of her work.

Werewolf porn...but Minnie lightened it up!

Would you try another book from Laurann Dohner and/or G. C. VonCloudts?

If I am in the mood to listen to some explicit animal sex I will probably try book 2, the
narrator did a good job.

Has Mate Set turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, this one just had the most sex I have ever listened to.

Which character – as performed by G. C. VonCloudts – was your favorite?

Minnie, like I said she really lightened the story up and provided some much needed humor.

Do you think Mate Set needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Well I think there is one but I think the characters are different, it would be nice hearing about how Grady and Micah are doing.

Wow, this book was intense!

I loved the narrator. Laurann hit a home run. Grady made every mistake he could possible make with a "human woman" he could. Like the new species books the backstory on the wolves is so detailed due to the rules of engagement during mating that I was tense waiting for Mika to walk into another land mine that by the end of the story she was in a situation I personally would not have forgiven! I am on to the next in the series!

This book would have been an all 5 star book if Mika wasn't so selfish and whinny. Everything had to go her way.

Let Mika be more understanding, and stop being so whinny
