I am an avid listener. I listen between 75-100 hours per month on my iPhone: 60% fiction to 40% non-fiction.
I like the fresh plot. Though the romance formula is in tact, Bybee offers and interesting plot in this second of a series. Also, she does a good job laying the groundwork for follow-ons. This novel is self contained, as was Book 1. This series creates a universe and a set of woman within the universe. After listening to two, it is clear where she is going but I think the plot lines will have enough variety to keep one interested.
As a critique I would liked to have amped up the conflict. I also would have liked to see a little more depth from Eliza -- all in all, a nice listen. Pull up a chair near the fire, surf the web on you iPad and listen away. Eby does a good job narrating. I give it a thumbs up.
I just Love the Allure of a Great Romance...a Pair of Rose Colored Glasses...some Fine Wine, and a Subscription to Audible...
Married by Monday: Weekday Brides, Book 2 is a very entertaining romance with enjoyable characters, most of whom we met in Book 1. My only disappointment is that audible does not have book 3 in their store.
Book 1 and 2 are the only Catherine Bybee books that I have ever had the pleasure of listening. Her characters are endearing, and the story is lighthearted, while also engaging. If you are in the mood for a fun read, this novel will provide.
Definitely credit worthy!
Tell us about yourself!
It really didn't capture my attention. It was alright. I was glad when it was over. I will check out the third in the series cuz I liked the first book.
I struggled to finish this book because I am one those readers that finishes a book no matter how silly it is. It was too story-bookish. It was anticipatable and boring. Maybe it's the way the story was written but the narrator's voice gives off a monotonous 'whatever' kind of tone...like oh... Its an everyday thing to get a bullet through your arm... I didn't feel the love between Carter and Lisa. Basically emotions were not captured
The excitement of each characters, it bought out the twist and turns more for me.
I enjoyed Eliza but Tanya does such an outstanding job on all of them. What is there not to love.
This series has been a wonderful refreshing read the author gives you a new twist along with some thrills and suspense in way you do not expect it. It is a pretty clean read but there is so much passion you can almost feel it. I have so enjoyed this series and can't wait to see what they author has for me next.
The author writes about some very serious issues but in a way you can relate and have so much compassion for each character you feel their pain. Each women who gets married does so for a reason for Eliza it was to keep her safe and bring you out to be able to live a normal life. Being on the run to out run someone who wants you dead for no reason other than your father turned them in must be so painful. You lose so much along with yourself. I really enjoy watching her take her life back, being the strong women and helping others who are going through what she had was touching.
Carter was just adorable he gave so much of his self even when it would have been better if he had just walked away. He is a stand up guy who cares so much. He has so much class and so much to give a women. There isn't a women who will read this that won't fall in love with him.
I thought I would die laughing when that cowboy came up and over heard what the ladies were talking about. There is so much humor but into Catherine Bybee books you find yourself turning pages and not wanting to put it down.
Tanya Eby as a narrator brings so much to each of these books with her smooth calming voice she pulls you in. Her many different voice are outstanding I love them all and it is hard to pick just one as your favorite. I know when I see these two names together it is going to be an outstanding listen. I am so hooked on these two ladies who keep me smiling and laughing as they bring me suspense and passion.
Catherine bring an usual fresh twist to how to marry a rich man for all the wrong reason which turn out to be all the right ones. Women for years have been setting up men but her ladies do it all above board. I so loved the aunt and how they fooled the grand kids. If you haven't read any of Catherine's books you really should give one a try you won't be disappointed. I for one can't wait for the next one.
I really enjoyed this book. The hero, Carter aka Hollywood was handsome, smart and sexy. The heroine Eliza was strong and witty.
I really like the story line and her secret, (don't want to spoil anything so I won't tell the secret). There was fantastic dialogue throughout, sexual tension, great chemistry, nicely written sex scenes and the whole story flowed very nicely.
An easy to follow enjoyable read/listen. I really like this author's writing style. And her books are not rated G and not rated XX.
As for the narrator, she did a really great job and I like listening to her. The men sounded like men and all the characters had their own distinct voice so you knew who was speaking.
I though the book was going to be light romance novel as the first one but the twist and suspense kept me on the edge until the end. I like the twist of the story line compare to the first book. The narrator did well and it was definitely worth the credit.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I like book 1 better. They seem to fall in love way to easily. This should have been better, because we meet both characters in book one. There should have been more of a back-story I think from book one to seem believable of these characters falling in love so fast.
I did love the female leads history though... Crazy family life, she was in the witness protection... that was awesome.. but lead male was just crazy about her.. way too soon.
Credit not a buy. Eby did a great job narrating.
