Publisher's summary

Lady Margaret Landor first met Sebastian Townshend as a child, when he caught her peeking into her older sister's engagement ball. Tall, dashing, and charming, Sebastian was one of the most sought-after bachelors in Kent and cut a romantic figure she would not soon forget. Never did she dream that one day she would be living at his family's magnificent estate with Sebastian's father, the eighth Earl of Edgewood, as her guardian and Sebastian banished from his family due to the tragic results of a duel.

When life at Edgewood takes a sinister turn, with the earl suffering a suspicious number of life-threatening accidents, Margaret wonders if Sebastian's younger brother and his wife have grown impatient to inherit the earldom.

Setting out to find the one man she believes can set the situation to rights, she discovers that Sebastian Townshend has forged a new identity for himself on the continent. Now known as The Raven, a deadly mercenary, notorious for accomplishing any mission no matter how seemingly impossible, he has vowed never to return to England. Not until Margaret meets his outrageous monetary demands does Sebastian agree to return home, reluctantly posing as her husband in order to facilitate his return to society. When he learns she cannot afford to pay his fee, he suggests a scandalous trade.

As Margaret and Sebastian work to uncover the intrigue at his father's estate, a fierce passion blooms that neither of them anticipated and neither can resist. But can Margaret persuade Sebastian to abandon the dark path he believes is his fate and claim the life - and love - he deserves?

Breathtaking in scope and wondrously passionate, Marriage Most Scandalous is Johanna Lindsey at her finest.

"Lindsey deftly mixes danger and sensual sizzle in a quicksilver plot before neatly wrapping up her subtly witty, deliciously sexy historical romance with a clever twist." ( Booklist)

Just ok. Boring and I eventful.

Everything always seems to magically work out for everyone in the end. I guess that's what should be expected in a romance novel. can't we have reality, tears, comedy and action all in one? :)

Cute story

This was a cute and enjoyable novel. I appreciated the banter between Sebastian and Maggie, the author did a good job of developing the characters. I felt like I knew them well by the end of the story.

Great story but, a little to long for me!

I love Johanna Lindsey’s story telling - “Marriage Most Scandalous,”is a wonderfully written adventure of betrayal and love. The only thing I had an issue with, is how long it took to get to the truth of what really happened. However, the storyline, and characters are fabulous!

forgiveness

Forgiveness! Man if it was me I could not have forgiven this. Otherwise it was a great overall story because the plot is unlike most other books like this. The story is not focused on getting to the altar and all its obstacles love just happens while the story progressed... and best of all the author didn't break down or shame the heroine to get to the conclusion...

Excellance Performance, Exceptional Story!

Johanna Lindswy weaves a romance including blackmail, murder, intrigue, and humor providing her readers with hours of delight. However, the performance of Anne Fosnik is what captured this readers attention the most. She brings each character to life using her voice go introduce each characters as the author uses words to bring the story life. Many times I am distracted from a story by the performance as it is read, but this performance by Ann Fosnik was intune with the talented writing of Johanna Lindsay to provide this reader a wonderful experience.

One of my favorite Johanna Lindsey OSR

This is probably one of my favorite Old School Romance of Johanna Lindsey to read again, I love the characters, the wit and playfulness that she created between the H&H. I will happily read this again in a few years.
