Publisher's summary

Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was 13. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore.

Making Faces is the story of a small town where five young men go off to war, and only one comes back. It is the story of loss. Collective loss, individual loss, loss of beauty, loss of life, loss of identity. It is the tale of one girl's love for a broken boy and a wounded warrior's love for an unremarkable girl. This is a story of friendship that overcomes heartache, heroism that defies the common definitions, and a modern tale of Beauty and the Beast, where we discover that there is a little beauty and a little beast in all of us.

Paperback or Audio?

I've read this book before and I'll read it again and again. In fact I'll probably listen to it again after I write this.
I love all of Amy Harmon's books but this one is my favorite. Why is it my favorite? Bailey, Fern, and Ambrose stole my heart that's why.
So Paperback or Audio?
Couch or chair?
Coffee or Tea?
Kleenex or Hankie?
Doesn't matter.
READ. THIS. BOOK.

Prepare for an emotional roller coaster.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is one of the best books I've read in the past ten years. When the audiobook was on sale I grabbed it and enjoyed the narrators performance of it. This is one of those books that gets into your soul and will change you.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bailey Sheen. This novel wouldn't have been nearly as extraordinary as just a second chance romance story without Bailey.

Have you listened to any of Rob Shapiro’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, first time.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Victory is in the battle.

I love this book

I've read this book and now listened to it through audible. Both times, at the end, I'm left thinking, what a sweet book this is. It's one of those books that just make you smile.

Soooooooo good

I bought this book a couple of years ago, after reading the bird and the sword and the queen and the cure. Also because I love the voice and energy that the narrator brings to the books he reads. (Love his voice). Anyway I put off reading it for a couple of years. And when I did it floored me, I have read a few heart tugging books before, but I cried while reading this. Love this book so much and wonder what took so long for me to read it. So absorbing and you get the feeling that these people are real. Great Job Amy, well done!
