Second in a TERRIFIC series

Abigail travels to meet her intended Scotty, only to find out he was shot and killed shortly before her arrival. Outspoken Abby meets the acting constable Cole. The path to love takes a few twists and turns....definitely worth a listen! I have loved every Barb Goss book I have ever read or listened to. Give this one a try, you won't be dissapointed.

A sweet romance

What did you like best about this story?

One thing I loved about this book was the Kansas history, since I'm a Kansas native.

Any additional comments?

A great story with Kansas history. This book was sweet and I read it in just two sittings. I love that Barbara Goss doesn't need 'fill in' bad language to tell her stories, and I'm not embarrassed to be listening to it with my grandkids nearby playing.

Good Story

Would you listen to Mail Order Vixen again? Why?

No, there are too many other books I want to listen to. This one was very good though and anyone who listens to it will enjoy it. It is a clean Christian romance western.

What did you like best about this story?

That Cole was willing to listen and accept help even though it was from a woman. also that Cole was willing to say I'm sorry and try to explain when it looked as if he did wrong

Which character – as performed by Reagan Boggs – was your favorite?

I liked all of them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did.

Any additional comments?

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. The narration was very good.

Action & Romance

Abigail Livingston has traveled all the way from Atlanta, Georgia to Hunter's Grove, Kansas to meet Scotty McCabe, the local constable. She and Scotty have been exchanging letters for over a year, and after getting to know him she's agreed to become his mail order bride. When she arrives at Hunter's Grove, she discovers that Scotty has been murdered and another man has been appointed constable in his place.

Cole Johnson was a local livery owner until Scotty's death thrust him into the constable's badge, and he's a little overwhelmed trying to discover his killer. He and Abigail immediately get off on the wrong foot, each deciding the other has an awful personality! But as they are forced to work together to discover Scotty's killer, their mutual attraction grows.

The characters were drawn really well with believable character flaws. In the beginning, Abigail makes some foolish mistakes, but she immediately acknowledges and apologizes for them. Cole isn't overbearing or demanding and lets Abigail go her own way without insisting he's right all the time. It made their characters very likable. While this is described as a Christian romance, there's no proselytizing, just a handful of appropriate religious references and situations that fit in well with the story.

The narrator's tone was pleasant, and she voiced the characters, even the male ones, with distinct speaking voices that worked very well. I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I plan to listen to more by both the author and narrator.

FANTASTIC Mail Order Bride Action Packed Mystery!!

What did you love best about Mail Order Vixen?

I loved the characters in this book and the mystery that needed to be solved, as Cole and Abigail got to know and understand each other.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Abigail was my favorite character, because of her determination and strength as a woman facing every challenge that was given her. I loved that underneath all her feisty attitudes, she was really a sweet, loving Christian woman. That being said though, I truly enjoyed the other character's interactions with her. This is a FABULOUS BOOK!!!

Have you listened to any of Reagan Boggs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and I love her narration of this book. She has such a great voice and can make each character come to life!! Listening to her is a joy and once you start listening you have a hard time putting the book down!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!! I didn't really want to stop listening once I became involved in this story. It was a very late night once again, because I just couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. This happens every time I listen to a book written by Barbara Goss.

Any additional comments?

This book was so good and kept my interest until the very last word. Then I had to tell my husband all about it. He loved the storyline and said he thought this book would be a Great Western Movie!! I have to agree!! It had a tragedy, a mystery, and a WONDERFUL good clean Christian romance!! Every character became so real as I listened and I Thank Barbara Goss and her wonderful narrator Reagan Boggs!! I truly recommend this book to anyone looking for a GREAT listening EXPERIENCE that will transport the listener to the old west!!!

Not Your Ordinary Mail Order Bride Romance

Where does Mail Order Vixen rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

No ranking position needed. I liked how the author added some mystery in to this Western Romance. I also liked how the main characters were developed. I felt like I could pick out Cole or Abby in a crowd. I also enjoyed the freshness of how Ms. Goss handled the romantic scenes. She let her characters feel while also giving an innocence to the intimate scenes.

What three words best describe Reagan Boggs’s performance?

Level. Ms. Boggs has a very nice articulate voice. I enjoyed her southern accent. Unfortunately, I never lost the feeling of being read the story.

Any additional comments?

Georgia born Abigail Livingston is ready to meet her Bride Groom To Be. Newly appointed Cole Johnson, doesn't quite know how to handle the feisty foreigner. And he's got a murder to solve. I was given a free copy via audiobook boom in exchange for an unbiased review.
