Three siblings searching for the truth about their family are about to find more than they bargained for. . . .
When shy and reserved Maggie Ferringer is called for jury duty, she never expects to be kidnapped by an escaped convict. But when Cain Cannon, disguised as a prison guard, pulls a gun, she has no choice but to be taken hostage. Cain claims that he’s innocent of killing his girlfriend six years ago, and now he wants revenge on the people who put him behind bars.
Soon Maggie becomes more than just a hostage to Cain. As they slowly begin to share the secrets of their respective pasts, Maggie discovers that she wants to fight for Cain’s freedom - because he just might be the kind of man she can love.

Blue Moon Reviews
I'm in the middle on this one. I didn't like it as much as I'd expected to. Decent romance, decent suspense but it didn't light my fire.
Kate Rudd's tone for Maggie was too perky and cute for a heroine who's been kidnapped by a convicted felon. That was jarring and all kinds of wrong.
I would change Maggie however this was published in 97' and Lisa Gardner is one of my favorite authors. Maggie made no sense to me. She is a mousy virgin yet a marriage counselor who had never been in a serious relationship. Really? A very naive and whiny character, Maggie just annoyed me. The characters were not very complex and I'm glad this book was written under Alicia Scott, Maggie is nothing like DD Warren and the other complex characters in her other series.
I would recommend this one to a teenager who has limited experiences, they would probably find Maggie more believable.
Never and I think Kate Rudd's narration added to the annoying qualities of Maggie and she reads men like they are cave men. errr.
As much as I complained throughout this review, I still managed to listen to the whole book in 24 hours so it couldn't have been that bad. As I mentioned I was entertained, the book was not very complex which gave me the ability to multi-task while listening. If it was a DD Warren book or any other Lisa Gardner book, I would have been more captivated and would have stopped the multi-tasking to listen closely.
Can't wait for Fear Nothing!
Love Good Books
I really had a hard time with the narrator - it sounded fake or mechanical and it distracted me so much I almost gave up on the book.
Over done and hard to listen to.
I would recommend this book. Exciting and fun.
Loved the narrator and the story was a great listen. She did a fantastic job, Kate Rudd is great.
This is a book that you don't want to stop listening to.
I don't know if it was the narrator's horrible voices and over enunciation of everything or if it was the book itself. I struggled through 3/4 of it and finally had enough and stopped listening.
The perkiness for the female character was just plain annoying and completely unbelievable and the main male character she kept switching back and forth from a russian mob accent to no accent at all. She was simply way off the mark for this type of work. I will not buy another audible book if she is the reader.
This book has a a lot of humor and is well written, I love Lisa Gardner book's she is a fantastic writter, please hurray and right more a fan patiently waiting!!!!
Her other books are so great. This was like a teen age harlequin story. Not like her other stuff at all.
I loathed the pouty spoiled girl voice.
Honestly, from the get go every scene I could handle listening to seemed amateurish..I have a hard time believing this is the same writer who wrote WHO DO YOU LOVE. If this had been the first of her books I'd purchased, I never would have given any of her other really good books a chance.
She should remove this book from stores- both online and walk in stores.
I found this book to be one of the most interesting one's, suprising how Maggie is so calm and not scared, but say's just exactly what she think's..I would suggest you get this if you don't have it.
A better story and better narration. The Cain character is interesting but not fleshed out enough, and the Maggie character is just ridiculous.
The second in the series, since I already purchased it.
maybe, but not too soon.
the story could make an interesting stage play?
I love Lisa Gardner's previous books, and this has none of the suspense, terror, or well drawn characters her previous works have. The story is disappointingly straightforward, the Maggie character as well as her narration are terrible, and there are parts that I are just soft core porn in disguise. Very disappointing all around.
Lisa Gardner's mysteries are usually among my favorites, but the Family Secrets series does not meet her usual high standards. Maggie''s Man was apparently written during the early days of Gardner's career, when she had not yet found her proper voice. This book has far too much panting, moaning and underwear-shedding for my taste.
No - too embarrassing.
Give me more plot and fewer long, drawn-out sex scenes.
