Three siblings searching for the truth about their family are about to find more than they bargained for. . . .

When shy and reserved Maggie Ferringer is called for jury duty, she never expects to be kidnapped by an escaped convict. Cain claims that he’s innocent of killing his girlfriend six years ago, and now he wants revenge on the people who put him behind bars.

Soon Maggie becomes more than just a hostage to Cain. As they slowly begin to share the secrets of their respective pasts, Maggie discovers that she wants to fight for Cain’s freedom - because he just might be the kind of man she can love.

A sure no 5

I found this book to be one of the most interesting one's, suprising how Maggie is so calm and not scared, but say's just exactly what she think's..I would suggest you get this if you don't have it.

Great Story Line & Narration

I really enjoyed this book. I've listened to several of Lisa Gardner's books, and this had a very different story line then most. She took this story full circle, and I really enjoyed the characters, the thought process the Writer had, and the way it ended.

If you're bored...

Give this one a listen. Overall, not Gardner's best work.

The narrator's rendition of Maggie made me not like her character so much. A little too neurotic, I think.

Concludes too quickly

The build up for the story was great. You understood the characters and knew what they wanted from life. Then suddenly there is a hot romance, followed by an escape, then a quick resolution to all the problems. The conclusion was underdeveloped.

Mildly Entertaining, Heavy Cheese!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change Maggie however this was published in 97' and Lisa Gardner is one of my favorite authors. Maggie made no sense to me. She is a mousy virgin yet a marriage counselor who had never been in a serious relationship. Really? A very naive and whiny character, Maggie just annoyed me. The characters were not very complex and I'm glad this book was written under Alicia Scott, Maggie is nothing like DD Warren and the other complex characters in her other series.

Would you recommend Maggie's Man to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend this one to a teenager who has limited experiences, they would probably find Maggie more believable.

Have you listened to any of Kate Rudd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never and I think Kate Rudd's narration added to the annoying qualities of Maggie and she reads men like they are cave men. errr.

Was Maggie's Man worth the listening time?

As much as I complained throughout this review, I still managed to listen to the whole book in 24 hours so it couldn't have been that bad. As I mentioned I was entertained, the book was not very complex which gave me the ability to multi-task while listening. If it was a DD Warren book or any other Lisa Gardner book, I would have been more captivated and would have stopped the multi-tasking to listen closely.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for Fear Nothing!

Much different than Lisa Gardner's other books

If you could sum up Maggie's Man in three words, what would they be?

I've read a lot of Lisa Gardner's books, and they are usually on the dark side. This book, was a refreshing different type of book. It is murder, suspense and romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
