Publisher's summary

In this next searing tale of the Immortals After Dark series, number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole delves deeper into the mysterious Clan MacRieve, a family tormented by ancient agonies and forbidden wolven hungers.

Uilleam MacRieve, a centuries-old Lykae warrior, was captured, caged, and experimented on by a shadowy human order, along with other immortals. During a prison break that devolved into one of the bloodiest massacres in recent history, he escapes. But the aftermath of his unspeakable torture preys on his damaged mind, while the wolf inside him roars for vengeance and carnage. In the days leading up to the full moon, can MacRieve rein in his beast, even when he encounters his mate - a vexingly impossible female unlike anything he'd ever dreamed for himself?

Will Macrieve is hotter than hot

Macrieve has been on my pre-order list for awhile now and I can happily say it did not disappoint. I love the Macrieve Lykae Clan and I've anxiously been waiting for a story about either Will or Munro. (The super hot twin warriors)

This one is about Will and it will absolutely melt your heart. Chloe (his mate) is a good match for him and the scenes between these two are intense and toe-curling. As in all of the IAD books there is perfect mix of action and romance. I don't know how Kresley Cole manages to keep her series so fresh and entertaining but somehow she pulls it off brilliantly.

I can't wait for Munro's story next. And I always look forward to more Nix!

Yep, Hot and Hotter expresses it best! Hot leading Wolf, intricate plot, strong leading lady. The plot was FANTASTIC! The kind when you say, "Dang, I didn't see that coming."
I liked the beginning, middle, and end. Waiting for the next twins story!

And just like someone else said, "Thank God for road trips!" Got to listen in one gulp!

Still the reigning Queen of the Lore!

No surprise here...when it comes to Kresley Cole you will never be disappointment! The Immortals after Dark series paired with brilliant narration of Robert Petkoff is pure perfection. In this IAD installment its the lykae twin Uilleam Macrieve runs into his fated female with a nudge from Nix and a line of unfortunate events of course. Uilleam is completely happy to have found his Chloe until she turns immortal that throws a huge wrench in Macrieve's feeling for her. This book was more emotional and heart wrenching then her other ones and a lot little twist in it....just brilliant!
I absolutely love it when a Kresley Cole book comes out and then I am totally bummed when I finish it. Kresley Cole definitely has the magic touch when it comes to paranormal romances, even her young adult books are completely awesome. I can honestly say I have never finished a Kresley Cole book and was like " well that sucked" or "how disappointing". She is hands down my favorite author and Robert Petkoff is my favorite narrator! ( I wish I could get a personalized ring tone for my cell in his Scottish accent....hhhmmm hotness! )

Any and all of Kresley Cole books are always credit worthy.

PREPARE TO CRY, FLY & SIGH AS IT'S AN AWESOME RIDE

We PNR fans wait impatiently, counting the days with baited breaths and cursors eagerly hovering over the 'Add To Basket' tab for the next riviting instalment of the IAD series (unless we've already pre-ordered it of course) and this one naturally does not disappoint.

What a clever well written roller-coaster emotional ride - first come the Ahhh's as we learn Macrieve is being abused by a Succubus at such a young age, and then the heartbreaking fall-out follows when his family finds out. Years later we have the Wooo Hooo's as he smells and seeks out his mate Chloe and for a while there's a peaceful false Yipee of a lull. Suddenly there's the Oooo's, Outch and Arrrgh's and some WHO THE/WHAT THE .... twists as the storyline throws you in a 180 degree loop and, for a while, all you can do is hang on and scream.... that is until the next 'I didn't see that coming' moment sneaks in.

Macrieve, the Scots Warrior and Chloe's epic and intense love story is unmissable with great characters involved in a 'thrills a minute' pulse-pounding tense book that's packed full of emotional scenes such as torture, rage, death, revenge, loathing, humour, lust, passion, sex, disbelief..... but thankfully this is followed by forgiveness, loyalty, redemption, romance and eventually love.

I'm a HUGE fan of Robert Petkoff and his input into this series is invaluable as he flawlessly delivers just the right voices to each of the character and fills the chapters with emotions which, in turn, brings them alive and makes the listen sooooo much more enjoyable.

Worth a credit? Well, after spending 12 credits already on this fantastic series, I was only too happy to spend another - so that's a YES and long may this series continue and, at the end we get a small taste of how Munroe's life has taken a shocking turn, so I'm ready to pre-order it ASAP.

Hot Lycan Lovefest

Kresley Cole does it again and Robert Petkoff is so fabulous. If your a fan then you know what I mean. If not, then start from book 1 and enjoy the ride. I will say this book is more about the hot sexy romance instead of the fights against the bad guys. It's good to have a romance break and this book is so worth the credit.

Love the Lykae in this series

Ulieam "William" MacRieve had been trying to outrun painful events in his past that cost him his parents. Along with his twin Munro, Will had finally began muddling his way through until he scents his mate Chloe. Chloe Todd is the daughter of General Webb, the most hated enemy of the Lore, as the general leads THE ORDER. Webb had totrured William, and now fate has dealt him this rough hand.

It's hard explaining further without giving away part of the plait. But I enjoy this series and how Nix continues to maneuver or manipulate everyone like pieces on her personal chess board. I also liked how both characters had to work to develop trust even though the attraction was definitely there in spades. I am amazed at how Kresley Cole continues to keep the story fresh even though the timeline coincidences with other HEAs in this series. I have found that lykae and demons are my favorite heroes in this series, with Lothaire being the exception as his book blew me away. I can't wait for Dark Skye.

IF you've never read one of these - GO FOR IT

But if you have read a few well - then you are in my boat and WOW is it ever formulaic. Change names, slightly different plot - personalities identical to those in other stories... Immortal hunk with super power meets vulnerable, but often tough, and usually immortal or soon to be immortal girl... There is the inevitable misunderstanding, miscommunication, mistreatment of each other and a big falling out. One or both will have been tortured, of course.. then her life is in peril ( or his, but usually hers) and they come together, right all their wrongs and are in love forever and ever in a love to rival no other love - except all the other loves in these endless formula stories.

I know no one wants to hear this and reviews are supposed to gush or not be posted... and it is an escape, I suppose, if you don't mind the repetitive formula and then it is probably a lot of fun.... Kresley Cole is not a bad writer and this is better than a lot of what is out there... But she has a lot more potential, and these are becoming SO predictable and the exact same thing over and over.

Her young adult series was an exploration, and surprisingly the work she did on a series meant for teens shows that she has the ability to really develop characters, relationships, plots that are not just an edless re-hash...If she did not have such potential, I would probably be more patient with this... But am just tired of it... after the first 2 I read, they are all the same...

That said, again, she is a goo writer, compared to a lot of what is out there, though sometimes it is a little cringeworthy and if I never hear the term "hot seed" again, that is ok by me.... But the narrator is beyond superb - making it worth it, though it really is the same old from the author.

Stunning, Beautiful, Heartbreaking, & Mindblowing

Would you listen to Macrieve again? Why?

ABSOLUTELY! Robert does an AMAZING job bringing life to these characters. Not only that, his voice and well developed acting ability make every scene alive and vivid.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Will. His history is heartbreaking, his life was dark, stark, and filled with grief and guilt, but he had such immense strength (physical, mental, and emotional), such deep love, and such a wonderful sense of humor that Chloe couldn't help but fall in love with him.

Which scene was your favorite?

Oh, hard to choose, although any scene in which his is talking dirty kind of made me smile, lol.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did. Thank God for road trips.

Any additional comments?

This is, by far, my favorite of the IAD series. Kresely, you've outdone yourself with this one. Bravo!

Wow Those Scotts Wolfmen

What made the experience of listening to Macrieve the most enjoyable?

The humor, but you have to listen for it or miss it. Our hero has such good humor when he uses it.

What other book might you compare Macrieve to and why?

Book 1 and book 4, the best use of reader's Scott's voice.

What does Robert Petkoff bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

he is just such a talented reader. The author is so good and R. Petkoff has picked up the rhythm of the author. #1 does not have the best rhythm. I started w/ book 5,6,4, then 1. If I
had started with #1, I probably would not have continued.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I liked the concern of the two brothers for each other.

Any additional comments?

Since this is book #13, it has all the good stuff from the author's experience of getting good reviews.
