Publisher's summary

In this next searing tale of the Immortals After Dark series, number-one New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole delves deeper into the mysterious Clan MacRieve, a family tormented by ancient agonies and forbidden wolven hungers.

Uilleam MacRieve, a centuries-old Lykae warrior, was captured, caged, and experimented on by a shadowy human order, along with other immortals. During a prison break that devolved into one of the bloodiest massacres in recent history, he escapes. But the aftermath of his unspeakable torture preys on his damaged mind, while the wolf inside him roars for vengeance and carnage. In the days leading up to the full moon, can MacRieve rein in his beast, even when he encounters his mate - a vexingly impossible female unlike anything he'd ever dreamed for himself?

Unexpected

What other book might you compare Macrieve: Immortals After Dark, Book 14 to and why?

The other books in the Immortals After Dark series, especially the ones focusing on the other Lykae or the events/ characters on the island. It's probably best to listen to them in order to avoid spoilers, as many of the characters overlap books.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

Robert Petkoff's performance made this book absolutely awesome, like all of his books I have listened to. The voices, the emotions, the performance greatly enhances the book, which is already good, to another level. After listening to so many Kresley Cole books that have been narrated by Robert Petkoff, I hear his voice in my head when I'm reading anyway, especially if one of the characters is crossing over from another book in the series and already has a voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

How much pain is too much to bear alone?

Any additional comments?

I found this book quite a bit deeper/darker than a lot of the other Immortals After Dark books, as some of the memories deal with abuse, so this book might not be suitable for some people.

A favorite of mine!

This is one of my favorite books. I can't count the amount of times I have read it. I don't have alot of free time to sit and read uninterupted like I use to, thanks to my crazy work schedule. So I love being able to listen to my book while I'm getting caught up on my to do list at home or at work. Bonus...Robert's voice is hella sexy when he does his Scottish accent. Just sayin.

HOT, VERY ENGAGING...AND EVEN HOTTER!!!!!

I have listened to every book in this series and I think this one may just be the best so far. I have been waiting with baited breath for the stories of Will and Munroe and this one did not disappoint. The chemistry between Will and Chloe was fantastic. The story was in turns witty, fun, engaging, sweet and very romantic. And the two of them were totally believable together.

The narrator and the way he performed the characters was the icing on the cake. I loved the way that he made Will and Munroe sound so much alike yet just slightly different enough from each other that I could tell when he was doing one character versus the other. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the performance of the narrator and I can't wait to hear from Munroe in the next book. That little excerpt at the end left me chomping at the bit.

KC does it again

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, once again KC has captured RL news and put it in her wonderful stories

Who was your favorite character and why?

Macrieve of course and really liked his twin...who is the voice of reason.

Which character – as performed by Robert Petkoff – was your favorite?

RP does such a great job with Kresley's books, its very difficult to say which is a favorite.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is a roller coaster ride, you may find yourself crying on one chapter and laughing on the next.

Any additional comments?

Uilleam MacRieve aka Will believed he’d laid to rest the ghosts of his boyhood, and then he is captured by the Order, and all his ghosts come back. Chloe is going thru changes of her own, and captured by the Lore and put on the auction block. As the daughter of the leader of the Order she is much hated...but as you may have guessed she is Will's mate. He must come to terms with her turning and what she is turning into, and bury his own past to move forward. Chloe has to come to terms with the fact that she is becoming something that her father hates and studies and become what she is meant to be for her and Will.

Great Performance Boring Story

This book did not get interesting until the end. There could have been so much more depth to the plot. There was really nothing exciting about it. Find a mate, hate your mate, love your mate. That is all it had and I got bored with all the sex. I have read all her books and usually love them. Not sure this one was up to par with the others.

It was ok

it was alright.. not her best by far tbh. This would have to be at the bottom for me. I feel like it was drawn out way too much for such a simple end (kinda) I did however enjoy learning more about the Sucubus.

Best by far

Would you listen to Macrieve again? Why?

I have listen to a few of Kresley Cole's novels in the past and found this one to be the best by far. I almost didn't buy this one just because there were some themes in the previous novels I thought were overdone. This one had a lot more depth and character plot than previous ones and I found myself enjoying it a lot.

What did you like best about this story?

The few plot twists. Normally I can predict the future of novels, but when I get a surprise, I really like them.

Which scene was your favorite?

That's a hard one to answer. I guess the one where the two main characters were out jogging. I am not sure what about that made it really stick to me. Mostly because no one else in the series really seems that athletic and it was nice to see.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Uh... expect the unexpected?

Any additional comments?

It was a good book. If anyone is looking for a novel to curl up with and listen to while you knit or whatnot this would be it.
