Publisher's summary

A hand-picked cadre of warriors, they had the fierce courage of their Scots forefathers, combined with the stealth and cunning of the Indians who lived beside them in the wilderness. Battling the French in a no-holds-barred combat, they forged a new brand of honor, became a new breed of men - MacKinnon's Rangers.

Iain MacKinnon had been forced to serve the British crown, but compassion urged him to save the lovely lass facing certain death at the hands of the Abenaki. He'd defied his orders, endangered his brothers, his men and his mission, all for a woman. But when he held Annie's sweet body in his arms, he could feel no regret. Though he sensed she was hiding something from him, it was too late to hold back his heart.

In love and war, there are times when the only course of action is...surrender.

i enjoyed it

Wish it had been a little more.... spicy... lol. but a good book and good story. Cant wait to read the next 2. only real issue is i hate when private parts are refered to as their "sex". He touched her sex. or she grabbed his sex. please stop. thats one of the things that ruined 50 shades for (aside from it being garbage). just call it a c**k and c**t. or co*k and whatever else for a female. but not sex.

Well written colonial time romance

I wasn't expecting scots fighting in the French Indian war in colonial America but it was well done. The narrator did a great job delivering the emotion and eight amount of angst in this book.

One of the best

I purchased this as an audio book several years ago, and have listened to it and the two sequels that follow probably five or six times.
I rarely give any book a five star rating, but this one deserves it. The story is so original, with the plot and each character being skillfully developed. It certainly isn't the typical formula romance..... I loved that each of the many characters changed and grows in each novel and over the sequels.
The narrator is just seperb. His presentation just enhanced an already perfectly written story.

I depend very much on the written reviews when I consider purchasing an audiobook. I have serious sight problems, so these audio books is my only real entertainment. So after once again listening to these books, I wanted to share that these books are well worth the credit. They are stories that you will probably want to enjoy many times.

Terrific narrator

Really enjoyed this story. Was able to clearly identify each character. It’s amazing how a good narrator can bring a character to life.
