Still bitter about his failed engagement and life on the family ranch, Ian MacKenzie has been cranky for nearly three years. His brother Mack's married bliss hasn't helped, and now his pregnant sister-in-law's airhead best friend is coming for a visit.
Candice arrives to help with the new baby, even though it means swapping her Louboutins for snow boots and her flat irons for flannel. She's far from prepared for the freezing cold and she certainly wasn't expecting the sizzling heat of her attraction to a certain green-eyed cowboy. Ian may be rude and infuriating, but he looks sinfully good in those jeans of his.
The two clash at every turn, but there's one thing they can both agree on - if they do give in to their undeniable chemistry, then it's just a fling...because he's a country boy and she's a city girl, and their zip codes are on opposite sides of the map.

Hilarious! funny! One of the best storylines I've read in a while. I enjoy this book so much that I couldn't put the book down. please write more like this. everyone should get this book it will cheer you up and make you laugh and cry one of the best romantic comedies I've read in a long long time The characters were perfect for each other. Absolutely loved it. thank you
I think in the world of male and female it's important to be able to laugh as well as love. Several lines made me laugh almost hysterically, and Laurie West did a fantastic job of reading her part to perfection! Great pairing of material and voice!
So easy to fall in love with Candice. She's adorably relatable and her character was extremely well written.
I have to say that "candice/ian story line" was just alright - I was speeding through towards the end because it was a little predictable.
I liked the first book a hundred times better not only was the narrator more expressive and entertaining but the storyline was more colorful. This book was just plain, flat, and boring.
I would like to see this series continue. The first book is a sweet romance that any lady can put herself into the story line and enjoying right through to the end. For me though, I have a lot of the characteristics of both main characters in MacKenzie Fire. I really connected and wanted to not fade into the background of my life anymore and "Shine not Burn". I will leave with that Miramarode as food for thought for a long time. A Great read.
Always in search of my next book boyfriend. <3
This was just as funny and enjoyable as Shine Not Burn. City had me laughing and Country had me swooning. I love that Candice wanted to fix everything for Emma. At times though her attitude towards her friend was a bit excessive considering her friend just had a baby. Candice liked to push everyone but didn't like being pushed back. She's still a very likeable heroine. Ian was a bit more complex and I enjoyed slowly learning what made him tick. There are some steamy scenes that will make you wish you had your own Cowboy!
Loved the narration! Her voice fit perfectly with Candice's character. She did a great job with the male voice as well as changing her tone as needed. I will look for more work from this narrator.
