It's hard living on the wrong side of the tracks.
Lowen Seely has a criminal record to prove it. Determined not to follow in his father's footsteps, he fights instinct and tries honesty. But hunger becomes painful, and bills are due. Forced to choose between what is right and wrong, the boy from the hood learns abiding by the rules is nearly impossible when corruption is in your blood.
Falling for an outlaw has changed everything.
Poesy Ashby is the definition of ride or die, even when it means turning her back on freedom. The girl from the suburbs gives conformity the middle finger. Bonnie and Clyde have nothing on her love story.
On the run with consequences in the rearview mirror, Lowen and Poesy accept the truth: they are the bad guys.
But can they get away with their crimes?

Good listen, no doubt, but painful. It was like Bad Luck took Innocent Love for a joyride.... then over a cliff. And I felt all the pain. I'm so grateful to the author for managing an unexpected, better yet, unorthodox HEA. I recognized it's foreshadowing and kept hope. I wish I could have experienced their joy a bit more because the simplicity of their love was inspiring.
This book created a lot of anxiety but in the greatest way! The author somehow managed to convince me that in this case the crimes were completely reasonable! I loved the characters Low and Poesy! This girl had a better life than Low and he didn't want her dragged into his life of crime! She stood by her man and true love was tried and tested but never waivered! You will go on quite an adventure with this story! Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job narrating and bringing the story to life! I could see a movie played out in my head!
Low and Poesy together were my fave! Low was the protector and would do anything for the love of his life! Poesy was brave and strong and loved and stood by her man!
I have to say there were many scenes that were my top faves but the one where he calls his mother just melted my heart and I wanted to reach in the story and love Low even more! He leaves Poe sleeping on the sofa takes the handset to the front porch dials his moms number.
"Even crooks need comfort"
Such a fun story! I loved the writing and I can't wait to read/listen to more from this author!
This is a love story like no other. Fast paced and dangerous from the first second, it keeps you wanting more!
The narration was beyond amazing! I lost count of how many different voices there are and Aaron Shedlock made these characters come to life for me.
Tragic - Deep - Unbridled LOVE of the highest order!
Can't wait for more from this pair!!

This is a story of love, despair and commitment to each other.
Low is poor, trying to help his .family and through pride and misguided actions goes to prison. He loves Posey who's parents .disapprove of Low.
After he gets out of prison they make bad decisions but cling to their love.
Yes they could have gone in a different direction and yes you wish things had turned out differently for them, but I'm tired of some books that don't show a deep abiding love between the H and h...this does...so in my mind romantic.
Sadly you wish things to end differently, but ultimately it can't be any other way.
I LOVE THE NARRATOR. What an incredible voice, and made me fall in love with Low and Posey when reading the book may not have had such an effect. I'll be looking for this narrator!
I've been listening to audiobooks for years. I'm hoping my reviews help you decide what your next "read" will be.
This was quite a ride!! The narration is fantastic and the story is filled with love, lust and the gut wrenching twists and turns. I found myself hoping for a happy ending for these two lovers but not seeing a way out for them. Yes, it's worth the credit and you will love the book. I look forward to great things from this author.
I would absolutely recommend this book. It is a very realistic look at how being born into a situation can have an astounding impact on the rest of your life. Also, depicts the consequence of choice in a very realistic manner. A love story focused on real life.
Only the author's other books. She writes about the real world with realistic POV.
Giving Low a voice that is fierce and drips with emotion. Aaron's intonations are perfect for the fierce feelings Low deals with and has

This was a wonderful book from the opening paragraph until the and. The story was excellent the characters were well defined and extremely engaging. I found myself rooting for the bad guys from the very beginning. The author did a great job of making them likable and describing realistic situations that could make a life of crime appealing. In my opinion this was the quintessential perfect novel it was a fast paced active engaging with just the right amount of romance thrown in. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading. Although I received this book at no charge to me for an honest review I would gladly purchase it on my own not only that but I will be actively searching for other books written by this author. This book was also greatly enhanced by the narrator who was excellent and well suited for the material.
Without question, I will be recommending this audio to everyone. WHY you ask, because it was brilliant.
The raw truth of life , the situations most people end up in that causes them to do desperate and illegal things to survive . What do you do , when you don't have money to pay your bills , none to help you and your hungry . What do you do ??
Aaron was amazing, his talent was to bring the story to life. And he did that is spades, brilliant work.
Yes and no , I wanted to enjoy it and not rush , but I did at times just want to rush to the end just to see how it would end .
Mary Elizabeth congratulations what a beautifully written story , you had a little of everything in this book . As for you Aaron Shedlock outstanding work , you made me fall in love with Low , you made me feel like I live through it with them . Ohmygosh! This book! I freely admit I’m an angst whore, but Low takes angst to a whole new level. It is, without a doubt, the most anxiety-producing novel I’ve ever read. At one point I had to reach out and phone a friend. (Thanks, Christy, for the hand holding.)
I’ve never rooted for criminals so hard in my life, but I’ll be damned if I wasn’t behind Lowen and Poesy every step of the way. How could I not feel for a man who always tries to do the right thing, despite the crap hand life continually deals him? At least he has Poesy by his side—ever faithful, ever brave, ever loving, ever cheery. It seems like the harder they fight to stay afloat, though, the more desperate their situation becomes. Despite their circumstances, they are generous and determined.
The quality of Mary Elizabeth’s writing is exceptional, and I’m blown away by the complexity of the characters she created in Low and Poesy. This story had the power to incite such conflicting emotions within me that it stole my breath. That said, it is a tough read that may not be for everyone. It’s gritty, raw, somewhat slow in places, and honestly kind of depressing. What a rollercoaster though! I’ll definitely be reading more work by Mary Elizabeth.
I gave this story an overall 5 star but there was too many plot twist to the whole thing. I could not catch onto any one in particular. Perhaps if this were spread over two books it would have been better. It is so true to real life. In spite of the fact that we lament the fact that most prisoners return to prison we forget that we treat them as if they have not paid for their crime unless they are Martha Stewart who in my opinion should still be in jail. The poor can't catch a break while the rish continue to get rich. The saving grace for the book was that Posey did not let go of Low. This raarely happens in real life. the narration was very well done. I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
