Publisher's summary

It's hard living on the wrong side of the tracks.

Lowen Seely has a criminal record to prove it. Determined not to follow in his father's footsteps, he fights instinct and tries honesty. But hunger becomes painful, and bills are due. Forced to choose between what is right and wrong, the boy from the hood learns abiding by the rules is nearly impossible when corruption is in your blood.

Falling for an outlaw has changed everything.

Poesy Ashby is the definition of ride or die, even when it means turning her back on freedom. The girl from the suburbs gives conformity the middle finger. Bonnie and Clyde have nothing on her love story.

On the run with consequences in the rearview mirror, Lowen and Poesy accept the truth: they are the bad guys.

But can they get away with their crimes?

WOW that was a crazy ride! I stayed up all night because I couldn't turn it off. I just had to see where this was going. This book wasn't anything like I expected and it certainly wasn't like any book I've read before.

Low grew up white trash, with his father in prison he tries to take care of his mom & sister but it isn't easy, he is a product of his upbringing and finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He loves Posey and will do anything to take care of her. Posey grew up in a middle class family with parents who barely paid any attention to her. She loves Low and will do anything to stay with him. Together these two struggle with major poverty, losing job after job and can't seem to catch a break at all. This is your modern day Bonnie & Clyde type of story. This book is so action packed that your heart will be racing. These two only care about each other, they love deeply and they definitely take you on a wild ride! The way these to loved each other was amazing, even with all that happens they never lose sight of that, always putting the other ahead of themselves. It was Beautiful in a weird, crazy kind of way.

Aaron Shedlock was the perfect narrator for this book. If this book is a 5, he made it into a 10. I will be stalking him even more now than I was before! I think he helped make Low a likable criminal with his tone and most male narrators don't do great at the female voice but he didn't try to be high pitched, he just gave her a little softer voice and it worked perfectly.

Good God.... Faithful Love to the end.

Good listen, no doubt, but painful. It was like Bad Luck took Innocent Love for a joyride.... then over a cliff. And I felt all the pain. I'm so grateful to the author for managing an unexpected, better yet, unorthodox HEA. I recognized it's foreshadowing and kept hope. I wish I could have experienced their joy a bit more because the simplicity of their love was inspiring.

Audio Perfection

I loved this story as a book and I love it even more as an audio. Mary Elizabeth paints this picture where you want the bad guy to succeed and you feel emotionally broke down when things don't go their way.

Even crooks need love.

Aaron Shedlock should be narrating every single male audio out there. His voice is gruff and sexy and he is so fantastic at narration. I was sucked into the story and didn't come out until it was over.

Pick this one up, STAT.

Posey was Lowen, ride or die foreal.

Dude this book was good. It had taken me awhile to finish.

I think they would've gotten away if Posey wouldn't have walk in the bank when he was about to walk out and get shot. And then after her tail get shot she removes her ski-mask like really girl? Then he does the same thing when he sees she got shot smh. Now they're on the run, and people knows their faces."

The second time was when he took her to shoot, and they almost got caught, her tail wanting to explore and stuff that what messed them up.

The third time, was when that female thought she was going to get that reward she lucky Lowen didn't blow her head off. Lol.

As it got to the ending with his foot is on the pedal I'm like omg they're going to die:0, but then I'm like did they die? The ending had me lost, so I will assume that Lowen and Posey died. I didn't want them to do that was so sad. They were Bonnie and Clyde in this book for real. I thought it was cute that they died together. The policemen suck lol they had Lowen in their possession and still didn't get him, and all those people were standing out there to watch what will happen to them. it was crazy to even have kids out there. Very weird but I enjoy this, but it was worth reading even though it was a bit slow in the beginning.

Low & Posey FOREVER

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Without question, I will be recommending this audio to everyone. WHY you ask, because it was brilliant.

What did you like best about this story?

The raw truth of life , the situations most people end up in that causes them to do desperate and illegal things to survive . What do you do , when you don't have money to pay your bills , none to help you and your hungry . What do you do ??

What does Aaron Shedlock bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Aaron was amazing, his talent was to bring the story to life. And he did that is spades, brilliant work.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no , I wanted to enjoy it and not rush , but I did at times just want to rush to the end just to see how it would end .

SOMEONE ALWAYS HAS IT WORSE

There are several approaches I can take for this review. I decided to forgo the Bonnie & Clyde approach, which is what intrigued me to purchase the book, and take the struggles of life approach.

Low's dad is in prison, his mother on disability, a couple more kids with Low being the oldest. When Low's dad went to prison Low had to quite school and get a job to help support the family. So he does lawn and gardening work. This is how he meets Posey but her parents don't approve of Low.

Back to Low...he goes into a convenient store to steal peanut butter to help get the family thru until the food stamp card is reloaded. He see's fresh bread on the shelf and remembers how nice it is to have fresh bread and how good it taste instead of the stale .99cent bread they usually have. He steals the bread and peanut butter but gets caught by the clerk. They fight and Low is arrested for assault and sent to jail.

**Listening to Low describe the fresh bread and how hungry they were broke my heart.

While Low is in jail Posey gets a job at a coffee shop and finishes high school. She saves money so they can have their own place when Low gets of out jail. They try so hard to do whats right but every time something positive happens and things are looking up for them they're dealt a blow that pushes them back down.

This is a story of two good people who are in love but life's blows turn them to crime...

This is my first book by Mary Elizabeth. I'll be looking for more of her writings. This book was exciting and suspenseful, has some sexy times but most of all sent me on an emotional journey and had me rooting for Low and Posey to make it.

This is also my first book performed by Aaron Shedlock. He captured my attention and didn't let go until the end.

Absolutely worth credit/$$. This is a keeper.

Low

What did you love best about Low?

This book was very sad and depressing in my opinion. I never truly connected with characters. It was not a bad book, and it was performed beautifully. I just think it was not for me.

What about Aaron Shedlock’s performance did you like?

This was my first book performed by Aaron Shedlock. He did an amazing job, he has a deep gravely voice that just screams bad boy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending I always love endings, happy or not ;)

Even crooks love.....

What did you love best about Low?

This book created a lot of anxiety but in the greatest way! The author somehow managed to convince me that in this case the crimes were completely reasonable! I loved the characters Low and Poesy! This girl had a better life than Low and he didn't want her dragged into his life of crime! She stood by her man and true love was tried and tested but never waivered! You will go on quite an adventure with this story! Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job narrating and bringing the story to life! I could see a movie played out in my head!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Low and Poesy together were my fave! Low was the protector and would do anything for the love of his life! Poesy was brave and strong and loved and stood by her man!

Which scene was your favorite?

I have to say there were many scenes that were my top faves but the one where he calls his mother just melted my heart and I wanted to reach in the story and love Low even more! He leaves Poe sleeping on the sofa takes the handset to the front porch dials his moms number.

Full tilt love!!

This is a love story like no other. Fast paced and dangerous from the first second, it keeps you wanting more!

The narration was beyond amazing! I lost count of how many different voices there are and Aaron Shedlock made these characters come to life for me.

Tragic - Deep - Unbridled LOVE of the highest order!

Can't wait for more from this pair!!

Definitely Different

"I was provided a copy of this audiobook for my review. All opinions are mine"

This was my first book by Mary Elizabeth and second by the narrator Aaron Shedlock. I wasn't sure what to expect as I hadn't read the blurb.

I honestly didn't connect with this particular story. Not that I feel it was 'bad", I just didn't connect with the characters. I don't know if it was the hopelessness, or sadness that came across, but I just couldn't get into it.

In a review, you're supposed to be constructive. I do not if that fits this situation, because again, the writing was fine, but the story line for me was lacking. I would have liked to hear more of how the relationship between Low and Poesy came to fruition. From my recollection, he worked for her family and they began a relationship. She comes from a family of wealth, but I'm not sure if I even remember her background from the other side of the tracks being described. Maybe that is where the story fell short. Maybe I missed it and should re-listen or read it.

So many things were happening to the characters, that it literally made me depressed. I don't think that was the intent, as it offered some reality of life of a convicted felon, re-acclimating to society after release and the hardships that follow. If I don't take away anything else from this book, that I get.

Shedlock does a good job with the characters giving them each a separate voice. I did have to refrain from listening at night because his voice tends to lull me to sleep. Not in a bad way, it's just very soothing. May not be smart to listen when I'm already in sleep mode lol.
