Publisher's summary

The hottest collection of studs in romance” (New York Times best-selling author Angela Knight) returns as J. R. Ward brings together two of the most beloved people in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world - at last...

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has found an identity as a brutal fighter in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another...

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: It seems Qhuinn has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young. It’s hard for Blay to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. And Qhuinn needs to come to terms with some dark things before he can move forward...

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions, but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn learns the true meaning of courage, and two hearts meant to be together finally become one.

I liked the reading and book.

Any additional comments?

Unlike the rest of the books where there may have been one open ended issue, this book really left you feeling like there were many open-ended issues. The book overall was great, love this series. Now sitting on the edge waiting for the next one. Also I like this reader he does a great job with the characters.

Quhinn At Last

I loved listening to this book and I love this series. This was the book that made me want to read this series, with that being said this book was frustrating to listen to and at times I found myself screaming at it. This book had a lot going on in it and that was the frustrating part for me with so many storylines and all the jumping around in it. This was a great read I love Quhinn and Blay I didn't like all the beating around the bush that they were doing. Blay has been in love with Quhinn for years, but Quhinn didn't want to admit his true feelings for Blay. Quhinn has always been treated like in outcast by his family because of his eyes the whole one blue one green thing so he learned to take care of himself Blay was his best friend along with John they never judged him and always had his back and he had there's. The book also focused a lot on the Shadows Trez and IAm with Trez running from s'Hisbe and his new habit of having sex with any female who moves. Xcor and his band of basters who are still trying to Kill Wrath and him using Layla to find the compound. Assail and his drug dealing and being caught up with Sola. This book had a lot going on in it. I was glad to see that Quhinn finally found some happiness I don't want to give too much away, but this book was better than I expected it to be even though it did frustrate me at times. This book was very well written although I did feel it was too long at times. I would recommend this series to people who like reading about hot sexy vampires and action.

Don't skip this BDB book

I've never read a m/m love story before and was doubtful that this book would appeal to me as a heterosexual female, but this story proves that love is universal and beautiful (and sexy) in all it's forms. This book was just as steamy as the other BDB books but even more touching and romantic. Don't skip over this one just because the main story doesn't involve a traditional m/f romance - if you're like me, you will be delightfully surprised at how much you love this story.

Exciting, but somewhat redundant

This book is exciting in places, yet at the same time, is redundant in terms of the lovers thinking that they are unworthy for the other one. This seems to be a reoccurring problem that all the characters throughout this series have or at least one side of the couples have.

Not for the Squeamish (Sexually, that is)

First, let me say that it is clear to me that Ms. Ward was just as committed to Lover At Last as she was to the other books in the series. The cast of characters - Black Dagger Brotherhood, Band of Bastards, the Baby Powder Brigade, the aristocracy, the spiritual leaders, and the supporting characters - did what they supposed to: they advanced the plot and served as background activity for the main event, i.e., the relationship between Qhuinn and Blay.

Second, while most readers respect the rights of LGBT couples to be 'out', most of us have no first-hand knowledge of how courtship works for persons who are LGBT. From the beginnings, Ms. Ward approaches the relationship between Qhuinn and Blay in such a way that we, the readers, experience the agony and the ecstasy of being in same-gender love. It's a lot like different-gender love, isn't it? I think that was the point.

Finally, can I just say that the sex scenes were hot? I can? Okay, the sex was SMOKIN'!! You go, girl.

J. R. Ward has taken the concept of LGBT courtship out of the closet, so to speak, and put respectfully and gently on center stage in this novel. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Well done, J.R. Well done!
