I have so enjoyed this series I have had to start it all over again since this is the last book so far in this series. Lover Unleashed is yet another book that keeps you reading/listening non-stop. This series will take you away into another realm, I highly recommend all of the BDB books.
Personally I liked the book. Yes, there was a lot about the Vishious, Jane & Butch trio but I didn't mind. I like when the other Brothers are involved in each others books. Payne and Manny relationship could have been developed more but as a whole I like that the book didn't just focus on one couple. I am not jumping the JR Ward ship. I can't wait to see where she takes the next book with Payne & Manny, Quinn and the new characters.
I am not a BDB finatic, but I really, really enjoy the characters and the books. (When I read the boods, I am fascinated by the characters. When I am not reading one of the books, I move on with my life.) Have you ever read a book where you feel kind of depressed because it ended before you were ready to let go of the new "friends" you made? JR Ward makes their personalities and life real, not just stories about people. Well, as real as Vampires and Lessers can be. Unfortunately this book is a wattered down version of those characters. I feel like "Lover Unleashed" killed my friends. They are just ghostly images of the real thing. I am currious to understand the conditions the author was under to turn out a book so lacking compared to her other books. JR Ward! I demand a re-write! Like kids playing kick ball in the street, I am calling a "DO OVER!". Until then, I will look forward to the newest book in the "Fallen Angel" series. I do have other friends, you know...
This books should have been called Vicious part 2, because that is pretty much what it was. This was all about V and Jane it seemed like Manny and Payne took a backseat in this story and to be perfectly honest, reading his book was about as exciting as reading Phurry's book.
I have to be honest, I was even more upset with the way it seems J.R. is leading us with the B & Q storyline. I'm not liking the way this is going and I think that it's going to be a very big disappointment. I'm worried about the next book now. My advice....skip paying for this book. Borrow it from a friend. Check it out from the library. Just don't waste your money.
I have waited on pins and needles for another book in this series to finally come out. Once again, I wasn't disappointed. It was totally absorbing from beginning to end, it was hot, made me hot, and kept me in a fantasy world where the desire to have a Black Daggar Brother for your very own becomes a reality you can only imagine after reading just one book in the series. Every book in the series can stand on it's own, but watch out, they are addicting and leave you aching for more! I totally love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series...can't wait for the next one! The narrator is excellent...100% love him...he is the best of the best for this series and pulls you into this fantasy world where you will not be able to sleep from thinking and wishing you were actually there! This series is my absolute all time favorite! And that says a lot!
I'm not sure why this book has gotten such harsh reviews. I will agree it was not my favorite BDB book, but it was no different than the rest of the series. The main character was Payne and her relationship with not only the man she loves, Dr. Manillo, whom she calls "Healer", but also her relationship with her brother V. Since the relationship with her twin effects V so much, of course, much of the story is going to involve him, Jane and Butch. The story digs deeper into V's past because it involves Payne and what she did to protect him, which is what caused her to become inprisoned by their mother.
This book did not get completely engolfed in Payne's sex life, which maybe the disappointment in some of the other reviews, but it was no less of a love story. Between Payne and Manuel, V and Jane and between brother and sister. We also find out that Butch has a half brother.
Like all other BDB books, Lover Unleased is but a stepping stone for the next novel. Since we are running out of brothers, there had to be something to connect us to the next step. Introduce new characters and new possiblities. I love the fact that old characters come back again and again. Like when Wrath and Beth had to battle with his blindness. I don't like that we get one book and then never hear from a couple again, so although we saw V go VERY dark in this book, he came out a little more shiney and I liked that we got to revisit his story along with his twin. So, if you are a TRUE BDB fan, you will love this just like the others for what it's meant to be. Part of the brotherhood's story and the continued saga of what's to come.
This was another fantastic book to the series and of course the narrator is excellent. I really hope Quinns story is next. I just love Pain she is a strong character and the Dr is perfect for her.
I am married with a teenage son and run my own business. As I am visually impaired, audio books are my life.
I've listened to all of JR Ward's books and found this one to be the worst I've read so far. There was nothing in the story to keep you interested, in fact it was so bland that it's a wonder it became a book at all. It was so predictable, boring and the characters were pathetic. I must have fallen asleep during the fight scene as I don't remeber one. Don't bother wasting your time with this one. No more JR Ward for me
This is one of the best of the 9 book in the BDB series. I enjoyed all of them, but this one had more twists, turns and interesting aspects. Can't wait for the next one.
