Publisher's summary

Charlie gives the cop who pulls her over for speeding and reckless driving the performance of a lifetime, telling him that her mother is in the hospital on the edge of death.

Trooper Vin Loveanu wants nothing more than to pull her out of the vehicle and comfort her but has to settle for sending flowers to the hospital, only to find out that the mother is not a patient. Further investigation turns up an obituary for Charlene's mother from four years before!

Charlie's lies, abominable driving, and strong family ties continue to bring the two together. She can't run away far enough or fast enough, and maybe, just maybe, she should be running to Vin, not away, even if it means over his knee - the same way her brother Alex dealt with her. And she'd been trying to tell Alex she was too old for spanking for years.

Ok

It was ok but I couldn't get into the story and the narrator sounds 12.

Slow moving story and the narration was horrible

The story started strong and the middle just dragged. The ending was not believable. But the worst part was the narration. Her voice was difficult to listen to with little or no change when portraying different characters.

I couldn't get through it

What disappointed you about Lovely Little Liar?

Right off the bat the police officer on duty telling the narrator that she needs a big strong man in her life who'll spank her.

Follow all of that up with the abusive relationship with her MARRIED brother, where he SHOWS UP AT THE HOSPITAL SHE WORKS AT, TAKES HER HOME BECAUSE SHE 'DOESN'T TAKE CARE OF HERSELF' (EVEN THOUGH SHE DROVE HERSELF TO WORK), AND WHEN THEY GET HOME REAMS HER OUT FOR NOT LOCKING THE DOOR AND TAKES IT UPON HIMSELF TO SHOVEL THE WALK... BECAUSE IT GIVES HER TIME TO THINK ABOUT THE BELTING HE'S GOING TO GIVE HER.

NO. JUST NO.

There is something deeply and unsettling to me about a story where siblings in their mid-to-late 20's are in a relationship like this. From what I was able to listen to it's not sexual abuse/incest... but it feels like it. It's very squicky to me and I want none of it.

Any additional comments?

This was provided to me through AudioBookBlast after I signed up, however I never requested this title. I attempted to get through it but I just couldn't. The review is left since part of the terms of using the site, otherwise I'd rather not leave negative reviews for a DNF of a book I didn't want in the first place.
