Publisher's summary

In best-selling author Katie MacAlister’s Love in the Time of Dragons, suburban mom Tully Sullivan wakes up in a far-off place surrounded by strangers—many of them muscular, sexy ones—claiming to be dragons. They insist Tully is a dragon, too, and that she’s committed crimes deserving of death. Now Tully must disprove the allegations before time runs out.

Absolutely hilarious

Barbara Rosenblat's narration. Her mastery of voices is wonderful, and really keeps the story moving.

What did you like best about this story?

The sometimes subtle humor. I laughed out loud at times, listening to Barbara Rosenblat's droll voice.

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She really brings out the differences between the characters. Her humorous tones had me laughing out loud at times

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Like laughter and sexy guys? This is the one for you.

Any additional comments?

The story was a bit confusing at times, and the cliffhanger ending was frustrating. But I still loved it!

Erg! Read more reviews before you buy this one

I so wish I'd read more reviews rather than just going forward with buying this book because it sounded interesting. The story is OK, but it references characters who develop in books from other series' and it's a bit hard to follow plus is spoiler-y because I'm reading some of the other series but haven't gotten through to some of the things this book gives away.

However, the worst thing IN THE WORLD is the swallowing and wet goopy mouth sounds of the narrator. I'm halfway through the book and am so tired of hearing her smack her lips and swallow that I wish she was nearby so I could strangle her. I came to look and see if there's a kindle version of this book so I can finish reading it myself.

Yuck.

I'm soooooo disappointed

This is a follow on from the last Silver Dragon's books but what a change in style. I thoroughly enjoyed that series but this one - not so much. It seems K.Mac. has gone more for the comedy aspect in this new series. It has romance but she seems to skip the love scenes, which were part of the Silver Dragons appeal. It was humorous but I am struggling to get through book 2 and keep stopping to listen to another book altogether.

The narrator was good but someone please give her a drink.... she sounded like her mouth was dry all the time, and the swallowing sounds were offputting.

Worth the credit? If, I hadn't already downloaded 2 and 3 then a definite No.

Awesome Book

Belly laughs and so entertaining! This was a great book. The characters were very well rounded, likable, and a heroine we can see traits of ourselves in.

Ugh! The narrarator kills this book!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrarator! I could not get completly into the story because of the performance. I can't bring myself to buy the next book because she is reading it too. I love a good dragon story but never found out if this was one of them.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Rosenblat?

Kristen Potter and Phil Gigante!

Any additional comments?

I think I will actually have to read the series instead of listening to it to get the true enjoyment out of the story.

Would have been better, except for the narrator

How did the narrator detract from the book?

You can hear the crackle in her voice, all accents were the same. You couldn't tell who was talking, because she made all the main characters sound the same. If I hadn't used one of my credits for this book, I would not have finished it.

Not a favorite

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Just struggled with this story. Couldn't get in to it. Maybe if I had read it rather than listened to it? The narrator on the audio book seemed to pause at weird spots and I think she had a problem with moisture in her mouth as I could hear her making swallowing noises through the entire book. It reminded me of the noises my grandmother would make when her dentures weren't fitting properly - kind of a constant moisture/sucking noise. Hours of that in your ear would ruin a story for anyone. Yuck.

Would you be willing to try another book from Katie MacAlister? Why or why not?

I purchased the next book in this series at the same time as this one - so I am stuck now and have to listen to the next book. Hope it's not another eight hours of moist mouth noises.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No. I love Katie MacAlister, but this story just didn't get there for me. And with the back and forth in time thing? I just can't see that translating well to film.

Any additional comments?

Would recommend trying some of Katie's other books. She is a wonderful writer. Just don't start here or it may sour you from her writing.

Sexy Dragons

This book - love in the time of dragons - was the first of the series I've read. It was obvious when I started reading that I was basiclly in the 'middle' of the whole story. Going back over the titles the author has, I can see I should have read (at least) the silver dragon series first.
In spite of that, this book can be read as a stand alone.
MacAlister's humor shines brightly in this book. it's her humor that has drawn me back over and over to her works. I can't seem to get enough of them, and I suspect I'll end up with all of them.
Ysolde, the main, has had her memory blocked, so we as the reader discover the plot along with her, in her 'dreams'. She has forgotten she is a dragon, although others haven't. She's feisty in human form - and scale it up when the dragon inside get a claw in.
Baltic is a bad boy dragon that you just want to cuddle up to. Hes a 'regency lord' on steroids. But he retains enough little boy that he's a very indearing character.
There is a lot more to Ysolde's son, Brom, that is shown. I hope the little guy gets his own book, when he 'grows up'.
Effrajim, a demon in dog form, is a supporting character, and probably my favorite. Mix demon, dog and inteligence and you have a great supporting character.
The switching between past and present is confusing only in the beginning, you soon get used to it, and realize the story is just as much about the past, as it is the present.
I would recommend this book to others.

Great Story. Ok narrator

The narrator makes gross swallowing noises after every one or two sentences. It's distracting, but the variety of voices she can make are impressive.

Interesting concept!

I've read one other book from this series and found that they aren't my favorite, but I do enjoy them. The underlying concept of what has happened to the main character in this one is really interesting. #coolconcept #dragonlove #tagsgiving #sweepstakes
