Publisher's summary

Number one bestselling author Janet Evanovich teams up with award-winning author Dorien Kelly to deliver a sparkling novel of romantic suspense, small-town antics, secretive sabotage, and lots and lots of beer

Kate Appleton needs a job. Her husband has left her, she's been fired from her position as a magazine editor, and the only place she wants to go is to her parents' summer house, The Nutshell, in Keene's Harbor, Michigan. Kate's plan is to turn The Nutshell into a Bed and Breakfast. Problem is, she needs cash, and the only job she can land is less than savory.
Matt Culhane wants Kate to spy on his brewery employees. Someone has been sabotaging his company, and Kate is just new enough in town that she can insert herself into Culhane's business and snoop around for him. If Kate finds the culprit, Matt will pay her a $20,000 bonus. Needless to say, Kate is highly motivated. But several problems present themselves. Kate despises beer. No one seems to trust her. And she is falling hard for her boss.

Can these two smoke out a saboteur, save Kate's family home, and keep a killer from closing in…all while resisting their undeniable attraction to one another? Filled with humor, heart, and loveable characters, Love in a Nutshell is delicious fun.

Like an Ice Cream Sundae

Just like an ice cream sundae, which is yummy to taste but not very nutritious, this book is just fun. It's like a brain vacation! If you're looking for something deep and challenging, this is not the book for you! I enjoyed the characters and the story was good. I really like the narrator. I'm used to her in the Stephanie Plum novels. She's great! Again, if you're looking for dessert, get this book and have fun!

Great!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes!! I Enjoyed this book! It had a really cute story with likeable characters! It had some of Janet usual humor with a strong female lead and a sexy guy!

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! I love her acting when she reads! She does a great job! I love her when she reads Stephanie plum too!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Beer, Sexiness, and Mystery ;)

Short, cozy romance with a dash of mystery

Bought on sale, this was a sweet Sunday afternoon listen. Everything is on the light side, however, from the humor to the mystery to the romance. Nothing more than a few kisses. No profanity. And the crimes are limited to property damage and Murder She Wrote style bumps on the noggin. For short Evanovich books with a bit more pep, I liked Wicked Appetite, which has the humor and fun of the Stephanie Plum series, but in a paranormal trilogy involving the seven deadly sins and cupcakes.

Cute story, hard to listen

What did you like best about Love in a Nutshell? What did you like least?

The story was fun, the characters likeable, nice summer read... but I wish I had purchased the actual book. I found the narrator's delivery very annoying. Okay, now I'm being picky, but I found her to be too breathy, drawing out the last syllable of the last word of most every sentence. I couldn't get past it.

Typical Evanovich

What made the experience of listening to Love in a Nutshell the most enjoyable?

It moved along and was simple and relaxing.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

She is the best!! The way she changes her voices for the different characters makes listening enjoyable and not mundane. I listen while driving so monotone voices would put me to sleep. She is constantly changing the voices.

Classic Janet Evonivich

This type of book is a true classic! I loved it! There are only two things this book needed.... 1) Maybe a little more romance scenes, I felt a little bummed that they never really got together. 2) it needed to be longer!!! :) I really do recommend this book to anyone that likes funny cut romance stories without any smut. It was very enjoyable.

NOT GREAT

If you are looking for romance you will be waiting about 6 hours. The story and language is lame/basic and the characters are undeveloped and predictable. Don't waste your time.

Usual cast-type of characters. But that’s what I enjoy about this type of story!

4 stars instead of 5 due to weaknesses in ‘plot mystery’ and ease of relationship that lacked usual development of characters and plot-lines. More like a ‘Harlequin Romance’ than normal for Ms Evanovich which made it somewhat disappointing.

Pretty good romance

A well paced, quick romance. The characters weren’t very deep but you still feel the chemistry

Great walking story.

I probably look nuts with only my dog and I walking around the neighborhood, laughing and smiling.
