One Sassy Couple

If you could sum up Love in Play in three words, what would they be?

Meaningful Invested Moments

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love in Play?

When Dominique wanted to apolgize to her son and Jake, for not allowing her son to go on the football trip with Jake. When Jake first offered she took it the wrong way. And if you have a pre teen or a teenager, then you know what that is like. I really liked the way she handled the apologies to both males in her life.

Have you listened to any of Shari Peele’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. First time listening to her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved by the way Dominique felt about investing her time and her son's time with another man who may hurt them and trying to keep her and Jake's relationship from becoming something serious, because she had been hurt before.

Any additional comments?

This book did not let me down. First audible I have had with out the actual book in my hand. So at times it was a challenge to sis still and actually listen. The narrator did not disapoint. She made it eady to hear through her voice which character was speaking. I would recommend this book. Zuri Day is awesome. Thank you for remembering the thick girls fall in love too.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

This book... WOW! Definitely more than I expected with regards to the level of steam and heat!! Again I say.. WOW!

I also enjoyed that the lead female character was large and in charge! She owned her curves and was still viewed as beautiful and fashionable. I liked that this book describes a lead male character who typically likes a much different type of woman, fall head over heels for her without her begging or even initiating the affection. I enjoyed their authentic dialogue and that it wasn't a complete fairytale without any challenges and/or real life relatable situations when it came to both of their families. And ummm once again the "romantic scenes" in this book definitely had me blushing! Overall it was a good story!

Once or Maybe Twice in a Lifetime....

This story had a great beginning with the lead characters being instantly attracted to each other at first sight... like love at first sight... they had never spoken to each other and didn't know each other's name but they felt that over-whelming mutual attraction that you might get a chance to experience once or twice in a lifetime. Great start, good build of suspense and drama throughout with interesting characters and storylines. The novel held my attention.

What I didn't like about the story took place over the last few chapters. The novel had minor twists and turns sprinkled throughout but needed to have a "serious" twist to add to the drama. I didn't like the "serious" twist because it didn't make sense to me. She took a perfectly strong man, physically fit and seemingly mentally fit, with good character and strong morals during the majority of the novel, but then she weakens him in the final chapters for reasons that required me to suspend my disbelief way, way too much!.

"Break ups" and "make ups" are the meat and potatoes of most romance novels, but the premise of what this breakup/makeup was based on was too weak in my opinion. A happy ending and would recommend nevertheless!

The narrator did an excellent job.
