Publisher's summary

A young heiress in mourning for her mother's death, Kimberly Richards has been abandoned by her lifelong fiancé. But Kimberly's father, the recently widowed Earl of Amburough, is intent upon marrying her off as quickly as possible - to please the jealous lover he longs to wed.

So the rather indelicate business of matchmaking begins. And Lachlan MacGregor, the dashing and newly impoverished Laird of Clan MacGregor, is deemed the worthy suitor. Kimberly, however, harbors a deep-seated dislike for Scots, gold-diggers, and the whole woeful state of affairs in general. Therefore, a tryst with the handsome, haughty Lachlan seems dubious at best.

But strange turns and outrageous circumstances promise to lead the ill-matched pair to a wildly unexpected destination - and to open a resisting heart to the glories of true love.

Light hearted, sweet and enjoyable romance.

This is the story of Lachlan and Lady Kimber. I loved that they did not meet under romantic circumstances and their first impressions of each other reflected that. The matchmaking efforts of their hosts and Lachlan's infatuation with another made for a funny situation. There is also a final revelation from Kimber's father that will play a bigger role in another book in the series called "The Pursuit" which narrates the story of their daughter Melissa and Lord Lncoln. The 16 or 17 uncles will be major players in that one. These are the type of books that made Johanna Lindsey a bestselling author in the romance genre. I highly recommend this one and "the Pursuit". I am also happy to see that audible has added many other bestselling titles. I cannot review them since I had read/listened to them elsewhere, but I highly recommend "Gentle Rogue", "Marriage Most Scandalous", "Captive of My Desires" and "Loving Scoundrel". They are my favorites. They are all funny, sweet with pirates, rogues, ship captains and/or dashing heroes. You won't regret getting them.

Great Read!!

This story was wonderful, not the usual see each other fall in love type. It made you want to keep reading to see what would happen and where the twist and turns would come in. I haven't read much of Johanna Lindsey's books but will look forward to more and the narrator never heard him before, but look forward to. Great book overall!!!!

good for a rainy day

this was a book that was good for a rainy day. Would think twice before reading another from her. I will recommend this for a a few quiet moments but the plot was hard to follow.

Unexpectedly LOVED This Reading Of A Soap-Opera

I like this Johanna Lindsey novel, for all of its soap-opera-esque twists and turns. I'm not a huge fan of Lindsey but I've enjoyed this plot, and the characters, as good entertainment. I was surprised to find it read by a man and delighted at the skill Page showed with the accents and voices! He made the book even more entertaining for me.

Laughed so much

I love this book but having a man read this making the girl voices I just about fell over laughing. He did an awesome job. I hope he reads more books.
