Publisher's summary

It all started with a spell. Arran Conall lives with the consequences of his foolishness daily, his mistakes guiding him into darkness. He had no way to know that his beloved would fall prey to the ancient magic that awaited Blaire on the day he sent her away to marry his brother. Now, the only woman to ever give pause to his philandering ways lives centuries ahead of him, out of reach while still holding on to his heart. Now, he must try to live a life without her and marries another to save the lass from a greedy suitor who only wants to lay title to her father's territory.

His love for Blaire haunts him. With every breath, he prays only one thing- that she will be able to feel his love for her across the chasms of time.

Born in the 17th century, Blaire MacChristy lives each day trying to adjust to the challenges of modern-day life. Magic brought her here, but heartbreak keeps her from using the magic to travel back to her home. When visitors from her past arrive asking her to return to the life she knew before, Blaire takes a chance on love. Once home, she is shocked to learn that the man she loves has married another. Will fate find a way to mend their broken hearts by bringing them together once again? Even if it does, will they be able to stop the darkness that is coming for them both?

A Tragic Story of Misconnections and Timeless Love

4 Stars
Series: Book 2: Morna’s Legacy
Characters: Blaire MacChristy & Arran Conall
Setting: Scotland (Past/Present)
Mature Themes: Sex & violence

Recommendation:
If you enjoyed Love Beyond Time, you’ll want to pick up Love Beyond Reason. Bethany has done it again with this lovely time travel romance that will keep you giggling at character quirks and sighing in frustration over character choices. If you’re looking for a bodice ripper you will want to look elsewhere, there is little sex, but really, that’s not what the story is about.

Finally, Blaire and Arran’s love story gets told! At the beginning of Love Beyond Time we are introduced to Blaire and Arran but quickly transported into Bri and Eoin’s love story. Because book one was ultimately not about these two lovers, we are left holding our breath that they will ultimately get together. Thankfully, we are not disappointed!

Arran and Blaire embark on a twisting story of misconnection and betrayal that is both heart wrenching and romantic. Honestly, if you can dream up a complication for these two lovers, it was in this book. Time travel, pregnancy, murder, marriage, etc. Though there was one obstacle after another it didn’t become tiresome, but it did get close.

The Morna’s Legacy series has fantastic character development. The characters are well realized and deeply interesting, each with their own quirks and personalities and thanks to the talents of the voice actress, they all sounds remarkable lifelike and multi dimensional. The weakness of the series is in the descriptions. Two new castles were introduced and nothing was described of them, characters wore clothes (I assume), and the beautiful Scottish countryside was basically ignored.

Audiobook Review:
Lily Collingwood is the voice actress for the trilogy and while her performance in the first book grated on me slightly, by this second book I was grateful for her diverse voices and the level of quality she brought to the table. Coming in at just over eight hours the story was easily digested in two work days. The recording quality was great with no hum or distortion and made the entire focus on the story.

Enjoyable Time-Travel Series ;-)

I enjoyed this second book in the series just as much as the first. The story is light, fun, and easy to follow. It was predictable at times but it never took away from the likable characters and entertaining story. Narration was also very good.

(My two cents: It seems. whenever there is a new time-travel romance series, it somehow always gets compared to "Outlander". Comparison is fine when the two books are similar but when the only similarity is time-travel then it is quite unfair. Outlander is a detailed historical, adventure, time-travel romance, whereas this time-travel series is light, fun with a bit of mystery. I just wish everyone would try not to compare and treat each novel individually otherwise you might as well keep re-reading any standard of comparison because nothing will ever measure up. Just my opinion. Lol!)

I will be listening to the others in the series as they become available. ;-)

Super story and Soothing Scottish accents

If you could sum up Love Beyond Reason: A Scottish, Time-Traveling Romance in three words, what would they be?

Love heals hurts...

What did you like best about this story?

Scotland, true love and time-travel experiences.

What does Lily Collingwood bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love, love, love her Scottish accents that she applies to the characters voices!!! And she has a hypnotically soothing voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The idea that a friendship is so strong that in the face of everyone insisting that Bri is quite alright and has sufficiently validated those facts, Mitzi is ready to sacrifice her job and also spends time and money that she doesn't really have enough of to determine for herself that her friend is truly unharmed in any way. That's a true friendship.

Oh what a web we weave

The storyline has really evolved. Love Aaron and Blair and Owen and Bree. While Adonis was definitely not a nice person, her death was very sad. Adele and Maggie are delightful. The trip to visit Aaron when they stopped to sleep was very funny and entertaining. Loving the series so far.

Another good book!

Would you listen to Love Beyond Reason: A Scottish, Time-Traveling Romance again? Why?

YES!! I listened to the first book right before starting this one in order to brush up on the story again. And will listen to this one again when the next book comes out. This is a very enjoyable series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mary is my most favorite character!! I enjoy all of the main characters but she is so feisty you can't help but love her. Hopefully she will get a book devoted just to her!

What about Lily Collingwood’s performance did you like?

She does a great job with consistency. I can always tell which characters are speaking by the accent she uses. It makes it very easy to follow along.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Prepare yourself to fall in love.

Wonderful love story

Would you consider the audio edition of Love Beyond Reason: A Scottish, Time-Traveling Romance to be better than the print version?

I would consider the audio better mainly because of Lily Collingwood. She does a wonderful job telling the story and changing her voice to fit the characters. It made the audio version even more enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

What I liked best about the story was the journey. They could have both given up at anytime and they chose to go through the heartache so that they could be together.

What does Lily Collingwood bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a bold voice that brings enjoyment to listening rather than just reading the book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love made stronger through strife

Any additional comments?

I haven't had many audiobooks to listen to but with awesome voice work from people like Lily Collingwood I will be buying more. That is a sure bet.
