This was an amazing story that pulled at your heart strings. I was in love with the characters.
Very happy & sad.
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
As books 1-3 weren't yet available on Audible, and this story really appealed to me, I took a chance on listening to it first and I'm so glad I did. Yes, there were couples in it from previous books and the Hero from this book was probably mentioned in them, but there were a few heartbreaking chapters that, had I of previously listened to their story, then I would have been even more devastated and heartbroken than I was.
As you sail the seas in 1813 with the handsome, charismatic, dare-devil American Privateer Captain Connor you can't help but be swept away by his roguish charm and personality and when he can no longer keep his hands off Rhiannon a beautiful 18 yr old virgin there is a tender thoughtful side to him too. He, and his crew, plunder and loot the English ships that America is at War with but he's at war with himself too as he's haunted by his past and has secrets which he is desperate to keep hidden which makes him feel unworthy, restless and reckless.... but Rhiannon's strong unconditional love will bring him back from the brink of despair and save him from himself.
There's action, adventure, tension, humor, a sweet sweet romance, character growth between Connor and Rhiannon as their love for each other grows, a full cast of interesting and loveable characters including a very close knit family, there's a birth, a marriage but there's also pulse-pounding action and a gut-wrenching death or two so have a full box of tissues ready.
Worth a credit? You just can't fault the very descriptive well-written storyline which captivates you and draws you in and you can almost smell the sea, feel the sun and share in the anguish, joy, love, hopes, dreams, heartache, pain and sorrow as Connor and Rhiannon's journey to their HEA ending is anything but plain sailing. So YES a very enjoyable and creditworthy listen.
Terrible, terrible, terrible narration. Why can't American narrators do credible English accents? This might have been a mediocre book with a decent narrator but her performance pushes it over into cheesy, over acted and melodramatic. When I read a review describing it as a 'tear jerker' I didn't expect to be bored to tears. Couldn't be the same book that was on my iPhone. Blechhhh!
