Publisher's summary

For generations, Arienh’s people have feared the Viking raids. She knows all too well the terrible toll the Northmen have taken on the Celts, having lost most of her own family to their swords. So one stormy night when she encounters and wounds a Viking warrior, she has every right to want him dead. And yet she hesitates….

Ronan knows Arienh doesn’t recognize him. He was just a boy when his kinsmen raided her village and Ronan risked his own life to protect her. Now he has returned to claim the beautiful girl who captured his heart years before. But wooing a Celtic woman is no easy task. And no one has a heart more guarded than Arienh, who has sacrificed her own happiness for the good of her village. She and Ronan are unlikely lovers, forged in dangerously opposite worlds - yet bound together by strength, sacrifice, and an undeniable passion.

Enjoyable but not phenomenal.

Where does Loki's Daughters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's probably about at the halfway mark.
It is definitely not the worst I've read but it certainly does not rate anywhere close to Diana Gabaldon's books.

Which character – as performed by Sarah Coomes – was your favorite?

This was the first book that I listen to buy this particular narrator.
I don't think that one character really stood out although I thought she did a fair job with all of them.
I think that her narration did help me to be a little more engaged in the book that I would have otherwise.
But considering the fact that I listen to this book in between two books that were narrated by Gerard Doyle who I think is probably the very best there is, I was not completely blown away.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no.
I was interested but not completely engrossed in the story.
However, I did want to get done with the book so that I could move on to the next book that I wanted to listen to which was already downloaded.

Any additional comments?

I was looking for a little more of a light read after the book that I had just finished previous to this one.
This definitely fit the bill as far as that was concerned.
I was hoping maybe for a little more historical fact in this book especially as I am interested in all things Celtic. The books seem to Lagar bit in some places as it was a bit redundant.
Overall though it was a pretty good book and a sweet story.
I do have to say though that by the end having heard the author refers to Ronan's (organ) About 20 times, I really wanted to send the author a thesaurus, or some carefully highlighted passages of some of Diana Gabaldon's writing.
Considering the book was on sale I do believe that it was worth the money spent.
It probably would have even been worth it if I had used the credit for it.

horrible pro-rape story

Would you ever listen to anything by Delle Jacobs again?

No. This story of "just push the woman until she admits she likes it" is horrible and dangerous. Couldn't finish it. She should be ashamed.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers PG13/R

What made the experience of listening to Loki's Daughters the most enjoyable?

The more I read this novel, the more it seemed like a Viking/Celt version of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, with VERY descriptive sex scenes. I liked the basis of the story and found it entertaining, but there were times of repetition and as I mentioned before, the sexual scenes tended to go on to an extent that I did not feel necessary; once was enough..we get it. Sarah Coomes however, was thoroughly entertainin to listen to

What does Sarah Coomes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a fantastic storyteller and gives a personality to each character with much enthusiasm.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was not expecting the highly descriptive and for me, unnecessary sex scenes.
