I love this series!

I absolutely love this series. Lora has weaved together a world that in some ways can be compared to the world today. A group of people that are different that just want to be accepted.

There is always a bit of mystery in her stories and she does a great job pulling you in. At first I didn’t really like Rachel she was a bit too whiny, but as time went by she turned back into the hard nose assistant that he needed.

Brianna does a great job. I like when a narrator can tell the story and you can tell the difference between the characters talking. She even throw in a couple of accents.

I can’t wait to find out what will happen with Amber.

love Jonas Wyatt

loved it need more. Didn't want it to end. my most memorable part was when Jonas first confronts Rachel about being his mate and she halls off and smacks him across the face. Lol.. I listen with anticipation for what's coming next after every chapter.

Liked Other Books Better

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

A little unbelievable

Would you be willing to try another book from Lora Leigh? Why or why not?

Perhaps -- Mating Heat?

What three words best describe Brianna Bronte’s voice?

Other books were better

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

This book was not as good as the others. Brianna Bronte tends to whine a bit with this narration (Rachel). Jonas did not appear the same in this book as he was in the other books.

Hate the heroine!

I wish I could say this book was as great as I was hoping it would be as I've looked forward to Jonas's book. But his mate, Rachel, was just a tease (guess which kind) and a witch, but with a "b". The book kept saying she was his perfect mate, but I could not stand her. The basic story was pretty much "breed standard", and I like them usually. But sometimes the resistance to the "mating" goes too far, like in this one. And there were inconsistencies like when she tells herself he hasn't said he loves her, but he already had said it to her earlier in the book. She just can't make up her mind even though she lets him do all kinds of stuff to her and loves it, admits to herself that she loves him, that she's been fascinated by him for years, but hey, let's torture him some more since he hasn't already been tortured enough in his life. I think the narrator did a pretty good job, but I didn't like the way she did Rachel's voice. She was just strident or whiny most of the time. I really think most of these books should be read by men.

Glad That's Over!

The narrator had a negative impact on the story. A little whiny, a bit overly dramatic and hyper-enunciated, I felt like I was listening to the female version of Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. This story is one in a long line of books, and it has a complex political and social structure that will leave you baffled if you haven't recently read a number of the earlier books. I was frankly surprised to see others give this book such a high rating and finally decided that women liked the smokin' hot sex and the idea of a man utterly devoted to his woman. I listened to a good portion at 3x speed, skipped sections and still feel like a I didn't miss a thing. I was annoyed at the odd start and the selfishness of the heroine that just dragged on and on with no benefit to the storyline. So, phew, am I glad that's over!

Love the story but not the narration!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would NOT recommend the audible version of this book to anyone. I loved the story so much when I read it, that I went out searching for all of the other Breed series until I had purchased them all. Which is why I purchased the audible version which turned me off.

What didn’t you like about Brianna Bronte’s performance?

This narrator, Brianna Bronte, puts too much emphasis on all the sex words which de-emphasizes the entire love story. I purchase books for the story, not the sex which I consider secondary. Ms Bronte's interpretation turns this fascinating book/story into pornography. I had to skip whole scenes because of her reading thereby missing part of the action scenes.

Any additional comments?

I strongly suggest that Lora Leigh use a different narrator if she wants to turn her other Breed Series books into audible books. I like to listen to audible books while driving. I would be too embarrassed to play this book in the car in case a nearby driver might hear this narration.

Love the Hero, Hate the Heroine

What did you like best about Lion's Heat? What did you like least?
I hate, hate, hate Rachael. She is the most selfish woman I have ever had the inopportunity to read about. She uses her toys to achieve her own release. Then Jonas brings her to climax on two separate occasions, once when she is CLEARLY aware of the pain he is in. And in all this time, he is not allowed to even kiss her or else she would be subjected to the mating heat. Heaven forbid that Jonas is not the only one to suffer. And then, in chapter 14, when she is finally leaning toward “giving in” (I mean he has only risked his life, saved her daughter several times, proclaimed his love for her, all with getting nothing in return), does she kiss him? No. She starts to seduce him and wants to play a game to see how far she can push him before he finally loses his vaunted control. All while he is under the pressure of months of the mating heat, and she is debating, should I? Shouldn’t I? Am I ready? Blah, blah, blah. It is hard to love a book when you hate the heroine. I love Jonas enough to recommend the book, but honestly, this won’t be one I read over and over. She is just toooooo annoying.
At one point, he tells her he loves her. Then later she says he calls it a mating and can’t admit it is love. She says several times that Marines has told her everything about the mating heat, and yet she seems completely unaware that he cannot find his release without his mate. Jonas tells her this. She doesn’t believe him. Later Elly tells her this. She pretends to be completely unaware of this and later wonders if this can really be true. It makes me wonder since she doesn’t think that this can be true and obviously doesn’t think Jonas is having a difficult time, then why oh why was it so important to her not to give in? Completely illogical and chronically annoying.
Then they finally have sex. She nearly loses her mind the sex is so good and then she cuddles up and goes to sleep completely sated, but never notices that he wears a condom, doesn’t climax, and doesn’t even kiss her. Chapter 15 (out of 25)and I am so aggravated and annoyed that I am writing this review while listening to the book so that I can vent my frustration.
It is the end of chapter 16 before she FINALLY decides he is good enough for her to kiss. I have finished the book and Rachael, of course, becomes a strong woman and a good mate, but it is too little too late as far as I am concerned.

YUCK!

Terrible book that is just an excuse to link a lot of poorly written sex scenes. A waste of a credit and I couldn't be bothered to finish. I don't mind sex in a book, and even appreciate it a good sex scene, but this was crude and not the slightest bit sensual. Narration completely obscured by terrible writing. Can't believe it gets so many good reviews.

Your voice is completely taking me out of the story.

The masculine voice representation is totally disorienting. The feminine voice representation needs more work, but it’s borderline digestible. Due to these observations, I will have to drop the book, because I cannot get past your voice acting for dialogue, as it seems you only have a talent for narration.

Fell Flat

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

you must love Lora Leigh's stories! this story had a slow start, but it did get better. Reader just too bad for me to buy more of Leighs stories.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Great draft, but needed better editing. Too repeatitive

Would you be willing to try another one of Brianna Bronte’s performances?

absolutely NOT!

What character would you cut from Lion's Heat?

the reader was so bad, it made it hard to tell what the problem was.

Any additional comments?

Ms Leigh has great plots, sexy characters. Just needs better editing.
