Susannah finally has a peaceful, calm life and a no-surprises man. Marriage to football superstar Ryan Sanderson was a whirlwind of passion, heat, energy, and excitement, but Susannah got sick of playing second fiddle to his team, watching women throwing themselves at him, and living in terror of the hard hits he took on the field. With their divorce just days from being final, she's already planning a wedding with her new fiance.... Ryan has just ten days to convince his soon-to-be ex-wife to give him a second chance. He has just brought home his third championship and his career is at its pinnacle, but during the year of their separation, Ryan's come to realize it doesn't mean anything at all without Susannah....

"With its humor and endearing characters, Forces' charming novel will appeal to a broad spectrum of [fans]." (Booklist)
The story was pretty good and I thought the narrator did a good job. My only issue is that the voice used for Ryan didn't really match the guy on the cover. He sounded a little dorky. Sorry.
O Day of days when we can read! The reader and the book, either without the other is naught. Ralph Waldo Emerson. I Love to read, a great time for me is curling up with a great book!!!
Although this was a good book, I was so annoyed with the Female lead. If there was an award for easily manipulated, she would win it. Everyone butted into her marriage and she let them. She listened and talked to everyone but her husband. Can you say TSTL!
Love books, preferably romance and suspense. Typically read/listen to 3-5 a week.
I am new to books by Marie Force I got this one on a whim. The content was good, the narration was lacking. The voice of Ryan, in my opinion was terrible. He was a football celebrity, hunky, smart, and good looking a (jock), the voice made him sound like a jerk. His character was much more than what the narrator gave him. He did some of the other characters fairly well, that is what saved the book. Ryan was all wrong.
The story held its own, otherwise the narration would have been hard to deal with. The story made you want to know how it would end up therefore, you will get through the weird voice of Ryan. This was a nicely develop romance with a few twist and turns to make it interesting. It was a nice listen. Of course it was not a book that you simply could not figure it out, but it was a nice calm listen. A little sex, humor, and drama.
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
I think I might have actually like the story if the ultra thick country accent of the hubby wasn't so bad. Texans don't talk like that!
Not the audible, but yes to the book. I feel that the narrator over-exagerated the hero's twang and it came out more comical than anything else.
Ryan, the hero. He's level-headed and knows exactly what he wants.
Maybe a different narrator. Not sure.
Made me laugh a few times.
I loved the book itself, but I had to read it on my Kindle because the narration of the hero's voice was going to ruin it for me. Not only am I not a big fan of the southern accent, but I think the narrator overdid it.
The book itself was funny, light, romantic and steamy. The characters are all in their 30's and act like it so it isn't YA (which I hate for romance) or NA (which is a hit or miss). It's exactly what I was looking for in a romance novel. I'm leaving my favorite part of the book for the end of this review since it's a bit of a spoiler, so if you don't want to know if there's an HEA then stop reading now. I loved that the characters spend the whole book being together. Yes there are obstacles and the book keeps you guessing, but the characters are always together and having steamy scenes. I can't stand romance novels where practically the entire book is spent getting them together (without so much as a kiss) until the very end and all you get is the epilogue of them being together.
I like Narrator Tanya Eby but some of the voices I just couldn't take seriously.
the story itself was awesome
I'm totally addicted to audio books! I listen when my eyes get too tired to read and when I am driving or just don't want to sit and read!
Love, loss, betrayal
Henry, so fun to see that he gets what he deserves in the end.
Love Tanya Eby and she does them all well. My favorite is Susie though.
