Publisher's summary

I live in the shelter of darkness.

This darkness holds a secret over me...one that I have come to protect, and in return it controls and holds me back.

It's time to start fighting against it and break free. To become the unrestricted woman I yearn to be. For this to happen it will take a 16-hundred-mile road trip to let go of all that I fear and hopefully discover that the darkness doesn't lurk everywhere. I stand on the edge, overlooking a horizon of possibilities for the first time. Will I let my heart drive...to where it needs to be?

A unique romantic tale of one girl, one road, and a chance meeting with someone that will change everything in every way.

A travelogue with a twist

I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The heroine is a young woman on a journey of self-discovery down Route 66. So the basic plot is pure travelogue. Along the way, her car blows a tire and she contacts the road service she subscribed to--which is how she "meets" Trey, the agent on duty. They end up becoming phone buddies. However, she never expects she might actually meet Trey in person!

In the first part of the story, I found the character of the heroine a bit confusing. She seems both inexperienced and dependent, then adventurous and independent. Her father and sister seem unusually protective, and I can't figure out why...until the back story is finally revealed. That shocking twist is the reason I knocked a point off my Story rating. If there were hints along the way, I completely missed them. Maybe you'll be smarter.

The Performance was wonderful, so my overall score is a solid 4.

Very good audible book and story

This is a bigger sweet love story. I was shocked by the development towards the end. Have Kleenex ready, but love prevails.

Worst narrator ever

I can honestly say that the book was overshadowed by the narrator and made into the worst experience I've had listening to audios. I did finish the book but it was torture because the narrator used the same inflection be it boring drive or sex scene. I will say that I probably would have enjoyed the story because the whole plot didn't reveal itself until towards the end and then made perfect sense.
