Publisher's summary

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan "knows how to weave a tale of action, suspense and paranormal passion" (Romance Junkies). Now, she’s back - and the New Orleans nights have never felt so torrid or so dangerous....

From a tough stint in the armed forces to stalking the unknown as a bayou cop, leopard shifter Remy Boudreaux has been served well by his uncanny gifts. And right now, New Orleans could use a homicide detective like Remy. A serial killer is loose, snatching victims from the French Quarter with pitiless rage and unnatural efficiency. But something else is drawing Remy into the twilight - a beautiful jazz singer bathed night after night in a flood of bloodred neon.

Sultry, mysterious, and as seductive as her songs, she’s luring Remy deeper into the shadows than he ever imagined. And as their passions swell, his keen instinct for survival will be challenged like never before. By a killer - and by a woman.

"Get Hungry"

What did you like best about Leopard's Prey? What did you like least?

I love the hero Remy and the heroine was very good too. This is the 2nd book as #1 is about Remy's sister. This was a good listen and I chose it due to the alfa male in Remy. Good references to "the Leopard". This is set in New Orleans, and I am not a fan of that accent.

If you’ve listened to books by Christine Feehan before, how does this one compare?

I own a few C.F. books, but she really does not inspire me to buy more. I own so many other authors/listens and she is not an auto download for me like Sandra Brown. In fact CF is way down on the list. The few books I own are due to the good reader only.

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I purchased book due to K.W. reading it. I enjoy all her work and purchased many books because she has reads them. Try her Julie James and Jill Shavis reads, GREAT listens

Did Leopard's Prey inspire you to do anything?

I would only get book1 on sale as this author is really not for me.

Any additional comments?

If you are a CF fan, then this is a great listen, I give her creativity an 8.

Great stories and ideas, but

I read christine feehans books and love the ideas for the story lines, but I skip so much of it because the sex scenes are endless and repetitive in all her books, the story lines are incredible and wish she would concentrate on them and leave out the majority of the sex

The insecurity of the Heroine, annoys me!

I like the individual stories. I enjoy the humor between the family members. I like the wild sensuality of the Leopard shifters, also. I do not like how Ma Feehan often makes the Heroine so insecure. “He doesn’t really love me, his leopard only wants my leopard, sexually.” Really? God forbid she actually have an adult conversation with the Hero and discuss the matter. Is having angst, so important, in a romance that this type of silliness is necessary? I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t feel like the book would be missing something, if this angst wasn’t included, what about you?

The other issue I have had, with the last couple of books, is the fact that the author leaves some important questions unanswered. I wonder if I’m just a picky reader, sometimes. I wonder if her beta readers ever bring these issues up to the author? In this book, the question of whether the Heroine received the shifter gene from her father or mother, is contemplated. It is speculated that the answer would likely be found in her mother’s personal affects. There is a scene, in the book, where the Heroine searches her deceased father’s house, specifically, to find her mother’s things. Her things are located and there is a diary included. Then nothing more is mentioned. The author doesn’t mention any content, from the diary, or anything else that’s found; so the question is never answered. Now, I am self aware, enough, to realize that I’m a type A personality and details matter to me but, I would-think that this particular detail would be important to most of the readers/listeners.
Otherwise, I did enjoy the book and don’t regret the credit I spent on it.

Remy Is A Detective But A Leopard Nevertheless!

I have read all of the Leopard People books and have liked each and every one. It is nice to know that all of the men in these books are going to be muscular, lean, and sexy. You can take it to the bank that any book by Christine Feehan will have you panting before the 3rd chapter. Remy reunites with a woman who he knew as a child (16 years younger than he) but no longer a child. She is a jazz singer who is returning to her home town of new Orleans where he is a detective. The plot progresses from there with a passionate feeling on both sides while seeking a murderer. This book didn't have as many sexy events as some of the earlier books but it was still compelling and a good read.

Karen White was good but I think a man's voice may have been better for the storyline.

disappointed

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I was disappointed in this book. Remmy's personality was too different from his introduction Saria and Drake's book. His character was too dark and callous.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Remmy should have been less harsh, especially when the relationship became physical.

What about Karen White’s performance did you like?

I think she did a much better job on the accents in this book. I enjoy listening to her.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

Remmy was too harsh.

Any additional comments?

Just that the characters need to be consistent. The is the first inconsistency I have noticed.

Narrator

Literally put me to sleep. She cannot do male voices at all, the female voices all sound the same.

BRILLIANT AND EXCITING

I LOVED IT!! Christine Feehan has Outdone herself yet again! I always try to figure out the mystery, and I'm pretty good at it. I didn't want the Killer to be who it was but I was right! Definitely one to share! I Love the Leopard Series!

Leopard "s Prey

There is just something special about the cat shifters.. they are sensual, sensational and sublime (I know I so have to get off this alliteration kick). But they are special.. something about them calls to me. I figure if I was a shifter I would be a cat.. yeah because I smolder.
In typical Christine Feehan style the Leopard Series has it's hits and misses for me. I loved Rio's book, I simply adored Jake and Drake was special too.. wasn't thrilled with Connor's book and seriously enjoyed Remi's.. of course I have a special attachment to anyone named Remi..
Bijou "Blue" Breaux had spent her childhood lost in vice.. Her father a famous musician was just downright sleazy. Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll was putting it mildly. The only constant he had in her life was Remi Boudreaux. The older brother of her only friend. The fact that he cared saved her very soul. But as a child she knew she needed more and had something to prove so as soon as she grew up she was off to make her own music. To prove to the world that she was just as good as her manwhore, skanky, sleezy father... The man everyone but Bijou adored. But no matter how far she traveled there was just one man who captured her attention..
Remi Boudreaux the oldest in the Boudreaux family had roamed far and wide only to return to the bayou he loved. As a young cop he discovered Bijou at a party adults shouldn't attend. Frustrated and unsure what to do he left her with her father and walked away, knowing it wasn't the right choice but with a corrupt system and everyone in sleaze daddy's pocket what choice did he have? But Bijou was forever linked in Remi's mind.. Little girl lost.. now she is back and she's not so little anymore.
Returning to the Bayou, Bijou has decided to sing the music she loves, to live the life she wants and to see if the man who haunted her dreams really is the man she dreamed of. Bijou is staying with the only friend she ever had and excited to do so, except first day out they discover a dead body. Left in ritualistic fashion.. a serial killer is back in the Bayou and it seems Bijou is smack dab in the middle of it.
Ms Feehan tells a story rich in heritage and history.. a Sensual delight with rich full descriptions of the Bayou.. steeped in mystery. Lush backgrounds abound and set the scene for the mystery surrounding Bijou and Remi.. This book sizzles and Remi and Bijou just smolder.. Taking the reader to the darkest depths of this mysterious, magical part of our country. Fraught in legend it's a perfect setting for a clan of shapeshifting leopards and those that surround them.
I sincerely felt for Bijou it seemed every time she turned around she was finding out that someone betrayed her. Of course the trade off was, she also found out her mother was a leopard and so was she.. yeah Bijou..
The negative in this book is something that I see occasionally in Ms Feehan's writing. She drops hints but doesn't quite follow through.. Why were people targeting Bijou? Was there a reason why her father was how he was? I felt like there was something there but couldn't quite touch it.. I have questions and since they reflect only on Bijou and Remi and NOT the entire leopard species I seriously doubt they will be answered.. And because of this I can not say this was a perfect book.. It was a seriously good book and I enjoyed it immensely but I just wanted a bit more. Still I would recommend it to any Feehan Fan of course but also to anyone who just wants to read a really good story.
