Can love really conquer all? Book six in Katy Evans' breakout New York Times best-selling series that began with REAL.
Maverick "The Avenger" Cage wants to rise to the top and become a legend in the ring. Though he keeps his identity well guarded, he's known on the fighting circuit as the new kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tattoo on his back that marks him as trouble. He's got a personal score to settle with the Underground's one and only Remington "Riptide" Tate.
As Mav trains, he meets a young girl - the only other new person in the town - and sparks fly. When things get heated between them, he finds out she's none other than Reese Dumas, the cousin of Remington Tate's wife. A girl who's supposed to root against him and a girl he's supposed to stay away from.
But Mav fights for the woman in his heart and the monsters in his blood. The world's eyes are on them, and the victor will go down in history as the ultimate fighting champion - the ultimate Legend.

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
Katy Evans has finally finished her Real series and I'm so sad about that.... but happy too because it's been the perfect series from book 1 til this, the end to it all - but boy have they all been worth the time, the credits, the sleepless nights and the emotional roller coasters that each one has put me on.
Reese has come to live with her Cousin Brooke and Remy to look after their little boy while Remy 'Riptide' is training and fighting - but she has also come to get fit, lose extra pounds and find herself. But what she finds along the way is Maverick - a solitary handsome figure obviously alone and in desperate need of her help so Reese takes very slow steps to aid him. They are both characters of few words but their heated glances say everything and their first words to each other, when they do eventually speak, are tentative, touching, shy, wary and heartfelt and, once in each others arms, they click, find their soul-mate and peace. However, first there's a slow, and oh so sweet, build-up that finally blossoms into a beautiful touching romance where all they want or need is each other.... and of course the chance to compete in, and then win, the MMA Title. But Maverick has a bitter legacy to overcome too which brings with it resentment, animosity and angst as he tries to prove, over and over again, that he is not his Father's son.
Oh, this listen was so addictive because both Reese and Maverick were such nice characters and Maverick proved to everyone that he deserved to fight - he was true to himself and true to Reese who, along with me, fell hard for this vulnerable, loving, kind and deep thinking man. And Maverick was also a good friend to his washed-up drunk Trainer who had hit the 'self destruct' button. Reese and Maverick were both crazy for one another and desperately wanted to be together and that came across so well that I couldn't help but be drawn into their plight and mesmerized by its wonderful outcome. Dual POV's and the narrators did a great job in bringing each character, and the scenes, to life which increased my enjoyment.
Worth a credit? I have spent six credits on this awesome series, regret none of them and only wish there were more to follow but alas Katy Evans has cut me off so I have to go cold turkey from her particular brand of hot, sweaty, possessive Alphas..... boo hoo!!!
I will admit I'm the minority with not loving Legend. For me it was just ok. I loved maverick. I liked his back story and what he overcame. His struggles to not let who he came from determine the strong confident man he wants to be..I did not like Reese. For me she was just blah...I found myself rolling my eyes with her. It took me several days to finish this book.. It just didn't hold my attention. I enjoyed catching up with the Tates and I'm glad that though I struggled with Legend I did finish it.
This series has been one of my most adored. Legend was nearly as perfect as the three REAL books that started everything. So worth my lack of sleep due to simply not wanting to hit pause! Get this book TODAY.
It's one of the best audiobooks I've listened this year!
Remy, Real and Mine. Though this book is so different from the first 3 books of the series, this book has the same vibe.
The first time they made love and the final fight
I cried!!! I cried like a baby when I was listening to Reese' past!!!
Book & Audiobook Review: 5+++ Stars
There are no words to describe how much I FLOVED Maverick and Reese’s story. I missed Katy’s writing style. Her plotting mind is beautiful. I loved her description of the emotions, and the actions, her development of the characters. Everything, literally I loved everything in this book. I loved the connection with Remy and Brooke’s story but also, I loved that Katy wrote it so good that this book could be read completely as standalone. SIGH! I’m still reeling from the fights, and the romance, and the sex…. *shakes head* I’m sensing a book hangover…
Well, this is old news here, but I don’t usually read synopsis, and less from an author I love, so I entered to The Legend world with my eyes closed. I only knew I was going to be conflicted at some point of the story because the MC of this book was going to fight against Remi, and I was really afraid of how I was going to deal with that. But…. Katy is such an amazing writer that she made it all possible: being able to be in both their sides, without making you feel like you were cheating on both of them… That and having several book boyfriends in the same story is a little embarrassing LOL hahahah Just kidding!
So… Maverick was the new fighter of the underground. He wanted to fight but he couldn’t find a coach or someone who could help him. And then he met Reese. She was in the same gym he was “training” at, and she helped him, without even knowing who he was. Reese on the other hand was Brooke’s cousin. She needed to get away from home and accepted to babysit Racer while Remy was on tour for the summer, and that work had its perks, one of those was having access to great gyms, and that’s how she met the mysterious Cage—or Maverick, if you may know.
So, Maverick and Reese interactions at the gym slowly became into a beautiful friendship and then into something more. I loved, loved, loved that Reese thought of Maverick as her friend, which for her wasn’t a bad thing, in fact, it was THE BEST THING EVER. Their friendship was so strong that they accepted each other for who they were, with or without their pasts or families.
This book was a beautiful, heartwarming read for me. I was even crying at some point of the story. But it was also full of action, and I was so excited when Sebastian York was roaring the beginning of every fight, when they were calling Maverick to the ring:
“Maverick. ‘The Avenger.’ Caaaaage!”
Grace Grant & Sebastian York made one helluva work in this audiobook. I loved how in touch was Grace with Reese’s live, feelings, past, present. I loved how Sebastian made Maverick to look mysterious at the beginning—obviously it was all Katy’s doing, but the narration made it all more mysterious, and then, when the biggest revelation of this story happened, Sebastian transmitted every deep emotion of Maverick’s life.
Do not like the narrators at all, they make the ability sound so cheesy!!! I won't listen to another book narrated by them
Yes, the story line was awesome and the narrators were great. I loved Maverick. I'm so glad the author ended the series with such an awesome, loyal, alpha male.
Legend is by far my favorite! I never thought there would be something better than Remy, but Legend takes the cake!
Legend is the final book in the Real series. I've read them all--loved, devoured and been captivated by each one. It has the feels, heat and overall amazingness of them all, but there was something epic about this one!
Grace did an AMAZING job as Reese. I felt connected to her through the entire book. Sebastian-----I mean... he's so deliciously perfect. I felt EVERY word. Nobody could have put a voice to Maverick Cage quite like him. So sexy...
The ending to me was the best part! I cried, laughed, fist pumped the air.... as a Remy fan, I was ready for whatever Katy Evans had for me. I knew the outcome could go either way. But as always, no matter the victor, Katy wrote this ending in a way that I can't imagine being any different. I fell in love with Maverick. And my love for Remy is still unshakable. I love them both so much that by the time we got to the fight, I knew no matter who won, I was going to be happy.
This book was EPIC. FLAWLESS. PERFECTION. I've read every book by Katy Evans, and none disappoint. But this one, exceeded all my expectations. I'll definitely be listening to this audio over and over.
"well done Katy Evans does it again"
the Real series obviously
they always do great they both draw you in
the MMA fighter & the child minder
"Katy Evans Back At Her Best but Audiobook Has Issues"
Finally Katy Evans brings us a love story in line with Real. This book is no filler and both Brooke and Remy are in it but Maverick is the star.
The audio portion of this book wasn't so great. I was on the verge of ditching it after the first chapter but Sebastian York calmed my nerves and drew me back into the story.
The majority of the audiobook is read by Grace Grant who gives no realistic emotion, pauses oddly and robotically and can't keep her voices straight. A few minor characters voices are so creepy that she turned me off characters I had previously enjoyed.
I would recommend reading the book rather than listening to the audiobook. However, if you do listen to the audiobook know that Sebastian York with soothe you out of the passionless, stilted performances of Grace Grant. She isn't always awful but there are enough weirdly read moments to drag you screaming out of this, otherwise fun and flirty story.
Well done Katy Evans and Sebastien York. Katy finally back on form.
